Re: Crazy Nades
mp_buytime 1.5
I suspect (but don't know that) that time is from the start of the round, not the end of the freezetime. That is the default value.

Re: Crazy Nades
In the old days (N42,) there was a rule against nade spamming. I can't remember why and I'm not sure that it's necessary.
It doesn't seem unreasonable to me that a CT or T group would bring a crate of explosives, flashbangs, or smoke bombs along with them depending the situation... As an admin, I have not taken any action in game to address nade spamming and will continue not to unless instructed otherwise.

Re: Crazy Nades
HE grenade spamming is expensive and can only be done in the first 90 seconds of the round (right?). Is it really that powerfull? I don't think so. Not with a 7 minute round timer.
In this particular case kormendi spent 1800-2100 dollars to deal lethal damage to one player and non lethal damage to four others (I, of course, do not know if the people who recieved less than 100 damage survived the grenades or were already damaged and did not). What are great ways to avoid or lessen the effectiveness of nade spam? Don't get close enough to the defensive buy zone during the initial 90 seconds. Keep some distance between each other. When grenades start coming in change your positions accordingly. Don't assume that there won't be another grenade. With a map like assault I can see why it would be pretty powerfull, but that's definitely one of the very few maps that you can easily see all choke points from the defensive buy zone. I'd rather people tried to deal with/counter something like this for a while rather than just shout "cheap" or "deathmatch." On the NS server there was some conflict regarding the commander's ability to drop unbuilt resource nodes in alien territory. Some people were worried that this gave the marines an unfair advantage. For a while, various commanders used this strategy to test its effectiveness. If memory serves me correctly that strategy failed to be worthwhile once the aliens learned how to deal with it. Re: Crazy Nades
This is the way I see it, and please correct me if I'm wrong but it would appear that the only benifet to spamming granades in the first 90 sec. would be to keep CT's from rushing to the Hostages. With that said remember that on most maps there usually is more than one way to the hostage/bombsite/buy zone. CT/T wanting to "rush", while someone is tossing a box of granades out door/Window, is to hit both openings at once. Unless he's got partners doing the same he can't turn and throw quick enough without possiblely dropping one on himself as he hits the wall or whatever. IMO, This shouldn't be illegal by a long shot, for the simple reason that it's limited to the first minute or so of the round and if the CT/T's are stupid enough to stick thier heads out they deserve to have it blown off. The argument that it is unfair because CT/T's that are having to complete the objective can only carry X number of granades is alittle weak IMO. Simplely put your coming into a prep'ed site, the defenders know your coming just not when. To be tactically sound the defenders should have as much as they can buy. If that means they can buy 20 HE granades and throw them all in a minute, more power to them hope they hit something. But that's just it they are most likely throwing blind and getting lucky.

Re: Crazy Nades
Grenades are like candy to babies. Some kids REALLY want it, and some kids would rather drink milk.
In 1.6, this was a problem, but you evolved through it. If you were playing cs_assault and you noticed nade spam at the vents, you would go through the back door. If you didn't, you were stupid. You were mainly stupid to go through the vents anyways, because if ONE single noise was heard, you were barraged with bullets that slowed you down to the point of not even being able to move untill you were dead in the vents with your foot hanging out through the metal walls. I can understand the delima. The BIG deal about grenade spamming is that ONE grenade can deal almost LETHAL damage without armor. I've been knocked down to 12 or 10 before from a grenade and no armor. But, that is what happens. If we are to compare this to real life situations, take into concideration some more real life instances. Terrorists wouldn't be so stupid as to take up defense inside of a house with nothing more than guns. Chances are, they're going to plan before they attack and bring C4, land mines, claymores, machine guns with tripods for the mowing effect, and etc. Of course, we don't have the option to buy all of those, but if the team at Valve decided they wanted to replace HE grenades with any of those options, we would b*tch and moan for months on end because of the "lame" effects. The fact is, if you die by a grenade, you die by a grenade. If you die by a barrage of grenades from one man in a window, you feel pissed off because he is "breaking the rules." Some people sit back and relax in the dead time, some people lean forward and type their heart out griping about the nade spam when all the man in the window is really doing is closing off an entrance to his defensive position. HE is DOING HIS JOB. This isn't my opinion, this is fact. I see SEVERAL people, regular and non-regular alike, in these servers who would be so owned in a real life situation that I highly doubt they'd have body parts left. Bottom line standing is this: Do NOT stand in the way of grenade spam. There shouldn't be a rule for this. YOU, as a CT, should be HAPPY that the T's are wasting their precious defensive money so hastily on ONE ROUND. Sit back, wait for the mortar fire to end, then move in. And if you die, remember, next round.. that guy will be broke.. and you may still have 3000 bucks to play with. -Mom

Re: Crazy Nades
I've managed a team which used the exact tactic Root described. Very effective, very affordable, and it lagged the full server none.
