Re: de_toxin and de_cookcounty

The key for CT's in this map is to get to the bombsite... Sounds like a bind i hear alot.

Re: de_toxin and de_cookcounty

its ceritnaly a good thing for cts to hole up in the sites, what with teh furniture barricades and all, but if they put a couple good snipers in the park the t will only have access to one door into a. with the huge open roads its going to be a sniper land until the t are inside the bomb site so stratagey is going to depend on whos on a team. batman and seph on the t team? hide in teh sites fast.

Re: de_toxin and de_cookcounty

de_Crookcounty looks like it would work well in our servers, but de_toxin is more of a deathmatch map. the only problem with a bombsite at the ct spawn is the whole t team gets an excuse to rush ct spawn and then its just the regular cs deathmatch chaos that we hate (at least i do)

Re: de_toxin and de_cookcounty

Whats wrong with bomb at ct spawn?

Anyway, I love crookcounty but its pissing me off to no end. Every time I play at some point it randomly freezes my computer, playing the most recent sound file over and over. End Task doesnt end it, I cant shut down, cant minimize. Only manual shutdown works.

And it is sucking.

Re: de_toxin and de_cookcounty

as i said, it turns into a spawn rush game with the bombsite at a spawn area. there is a cvar function that turns off the soundscapes.

All de_maps with sites in or right next to CT spawn. Most of them are loved by SOME people at least.

So again, whats wrong with a bomb site at CT spawn?

Re: de_toxin and de_cookcounty

bomb sites at the ct spawn arent that bad in regular servers, its just in our servers, the bomb at the spawn gives the t's an excuse at wiping out our entire team in 1 go. its like the equivilent of a t rush at the spawn just like in the regular cs deathmatch. the t's can rush every passagway that the ct's use to get to the t's spawn and clear them out. i dont think its that bad if you can get out of the way, but on some smaller custom maps, the t's just rush the bombsite at the spawn and you cant get ready for the rush.

That's 'cuz it's 35mb. Huge!

I found it via PAF.

Great map. Gets to be a snipe fest if you are out in the open in front of B, but a .45 and some greandes are all you need to wreak havoc in the alleys.

One negative to this map is that the first to the intersection in front of A gets a significant advantage, but knowledge of the map and some series sneakiness can mitigate that.

The other negative that I can see is that once you are inside either bomb site, you are blind. I wonder why that is. Souce certainly has the capability to generate actual windows, so the omission is curious.

Re: de_toxin and de_cookcounty

the author probably used "cheap" windows that use up alot less rendering and engine power because of the enormus size of the map. like on pcs_junglerescue (hope i spelled that right) Vulcan used "cheap" water that lookes like plastic so the engine wouldnt lagg as much and so vulcan could use the engine space he made from the cheap water so he could make the rest of the map look so much better. oh and... GREAT JOB VULCAN!!

Re: de_toxin and de_cookcounty

I would like to see de_crookcounty in the rotation. I thought it played pretty well when I was a CT on it this weekend. About the only thing I wish was different was the dark and dreary look to it...kind of reminds me of the how dreary the old inferno looked. But besides that it seems to be a good map which offers teams a lot of options for different tactical approaches to the bombsites.

Re: de_toxin and de_cookcounty

We can edit and host our own versions of the map right? If possible, I would enjoy cutting out some unneccassary parts of T spawn, adding some windows and/or balconeys to A and/or B, and making more objects at B have physics. At least cut out part of T spawn and add distance fog or something to improve performance.

Re: de_toxin and de_cookcounty

aww, leave t spawn alone, finding your way through that maze is part of the fun. oh ya, and pretty much all the couches in t spawn can move, so if rushers are a problem and there are no admins on the t team has like a minute to barricade themselves in. and the reason there are no windows is simple. if there was a window in the stairwall, and seph was watching it from a hidden spot outside, would you use that site? i don't think so. the whole engine thing problay had something to do with it too.

Re: de_toxin and de_cookcounty

I mean out of a room, like a little balconey. Also, that much excess stuff in T spawn that you wont normally see anyways adds stress on performance and ram and stuff, as well as increasing the size of the download. Also, coming up with someway to visually block off the streets you cant go down would do a ton for performance.

Re: de_toxin and de_cookcounty

I adore cookcounty! We should make it on the rotation as soon as possible.

There are ambush points everywhere for Ct's and the bomb sites are actually hard for ts to keep if the cts work together (I have yet to figure out why... I mean really only one way you can go yet it still is hard to kill them).
