The ~ key pulls down the console, but first you have to enable it in the advanced keybindings screen.

In the console (~ as explained above) type 'connect xx.xx.xxx.xxx' where x's are the ip.
There is no need to add as favorite unless you really want to.

How do you join the password protected server via console? I don't know the syntax for putting in the password.

connect ipaddress works for me, but im pretty sure only if ive recently entered the password or joined.

once you enter the password once in normal joining mode you can just do the console join and it remebers it
