Re: My to do list....
While brainstorming and listening to (old) Underoath, I came up with:
1-Organize specific dates and times for map testing. 2-With the ammount of maps now avaliable, focus on special things we can do on server 2. 3-"this is a really good riff"' nice new av btw :P |

Re: My to do list....
I have a "maybe" idea.... Not sure if it could be done though. How about the first time a pubbie visits the server, they HAVE to read the MOTD before they could ever even join a team. And once you have read it that one time you shouldnt have to read it anymore. Kind of like those Disclaimer thingys whenever you install a program and you have to scroll all the way down and click "I agree". The only bad part about this is that you might have the people who scroll all the way down just so that they can join a team. But hey/hay what do I know??

Re: My to do list....
Although I have never played (or been invited to play) in a tourney, I do hear that people have a great time playing tourny matches. I think if their were more "team challenge" days, when various teams compete to be numero uno, it would offer a deeper playing experience. Just my humble thought...

Re: My to do list....
Vulcan - I remember around the time you and I started playing here, that there were an awful lot of regular players. How do you (or anyone else) propose that we get the level of regs back to this? Bear in mind, that back then, we didn't have people on the server who were constantly arguing. We had 2 servers full of players that were into PCS, and they mostly aspired to play it.
Skidmark - I'm not sure either way if your idea is feasable from a technical point of view. If it can be done, it might be worth doing. And yes they might treat it like an EULA on a software install. Ben - Have a long think about this, and then formulate something. Then type it, and spend the following couple of days checking for errors, feasability etc. Then we'll show each other what cards we're holding ![]() Root

Re: My to do list....
I think it really boils down to playability. Valve isn't doing this community any favors by not updating their AI for Hostages, giving us more types of gameplay and making the game more interesting in general. Beyond that I think seeking out like minded players/communities and having them play on our servers or vice versa would be a good thing.

Re: My to do list....
Temporary admining is pretty good to moniter the behavior of the server.
I wouldn't mind be admin but I have a pretty good feeling that a monkey will come out of my *** before that will happen (well at least while Root is around ). In order to get more population on the server you must be willing to meet there demands but I don't think we will lower are standards for them. Perhaps we can advertise are playing style... I got here just by chance. I know there are more people who want to do this but don't know it yet or haven't found us yet. Hopefully we can do something about this as I will put in my help as much as possible. I'm not talking about paid advertising Maybe playing on public servers with are style would help but having a large group would help. Those are my thoughts. As for improving for the current players... I'm pretty satisfied.

Re: My to do list....
We need to create more interesting gameplay on server #1 to encourage players to stay around. That means commanders ordering creative strategies and mature players to complete them. Most of the time someone will hola out a plan and everyone will run in opposite directions. This is just as attractive as a pubbie server to a newbie. IMO, the best rounds are when a team chills at the spawn point and makes sure everyone is on the same page then uses a 'waypoint' style play to complete the objective. Communication throughout this process is just icing on the cake. In a nutshell, it is important that we impress newbies with PCS style play every round -- not one out of 100 rounds.

Re: My to do list....
I know you already know this Root, but it would be nice to schedule some PCS training. I now you have said that real life is in the way of this(if I remember correctly), but do you(Root) have to be present? I am willing to help train people, but I am not an admin, or even a supporting member(
).

To expand on this idea, I must comment. Perhaps if all the admins or TAs on the server were about to leave, they could assign someone as a temp admin until they are able to return. That person would need to be able to stay on until another admin/TA got back. Something to that effect. And finding neighbor servers of ours (TGP, TGS, TDS etc) would certainly make the experiance better. |
