CSS problem

ive had this problem for some time now, but it ahs gotten worse. if you recall, some others along with myself had problems with the update for source where certain objects in the map were invisible until you got close to them. well, this has been a problem for me for awhile, but now, i can see people that are hiding behind objects (if a player was getting cover from a box, the box wil appear translucent on my screen, and the player is clearly visible). I dont know what to do to fix this. please help me out guys! im gonna check to see if there is a graphics driver update for my card (probably not since its a laptop ) Thanks for the help guys
David

Re: CSS problem

Open up dxsupport located in C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\username\counter-strike source\bin.

When you open dxsupport, just go to Edit and click Find. Just type '70' in there and enter. It should look something like this...

"name" "70"
"DefaultRes" "640"
"MaxDxLevel" "70"
"DxLevel" "70"
"CentroidHack" "0"
"NoUserClipPlanes" "0"
"ConVar.mat_antialias" "0"
"ConVar.r_fastzreject" "0"
"ConVar.mat_reducefillrate" "0"
"ConVar.mat_forceaniso" "1"
"ConVar.mat_picmip" "2"
"ConVar.mat_slopescaledepthbias_decal" "-0.5"
"ConVar.mat_slopescaledepthbias_normal" "0"
"ConVar.mat_depthbias_decal" "-262144"
"ConVar.mat_depthbias_normal" "0"
"ConVar.mat_trilinear" "0"

etc...

Then just edit the following lines under the '70'...

"ConVar.r_screenfademinsize" "0"
"ConVar.r_screenfademaxsize" "0"

"ConVar.cl_detaildist" "1200"
"ConVar.cl_detailfade" "400"

Re: CSS problem

There's nothing to be scared of. Just make a backup of the file if you're worried about it.

All you are doing is editing four lines in a text file, it's that simple and completely fixed my problem.

Re: CSS problem

You might not even have to make a backup file. I know if you delete certain folders in the steam directory, steam will just redownload them in an up-date form.
