Great idea Big C. Although I am posting my response here and now, I think this would be a wonderful idea to start a new thread for. Your "Dream Rotation" or something. It could allow for the admins to see a lot more of the people's thoughts and what they want.


de_dust2 - A great map that draws a LOT of people to the server. Plus I don't think it has been overplayed to be the server starter.

cs_militia_tm2 - Great map, Whistler touched the greater points of this - it has all types of combat, versatile, fun, and allows a lot of opportunities.

de_contra - An awesome map that should have it's place on the server. Many routes, great fun, well-done map...etc.

cs_italy - No need to comment on this one.

cs_office_extreme_1 - I love this map, especially as a Terrorist. If the majority of the people want though.... I did find another map that is a mix of _extended and _extreme. I'm tired of _extended, personally.

de_menace_final1 - This map USED to be on the server, but for some reason it was removed. This allowed for a lot of long-range combat, which made smoke grenades essential. The tunnels and other routes allowed for surprises and some close-quarters. Great map.

cs_kismayo - Everyone seems to love this map. And it's a great PCS.

de_aaa - It IS a good map, but people are tired of it. So put it in the middle of the rotation, surrounded by good, fun maps!!

cs_havana - Awesome map, lots of routes, not static...smokes and flashbangs are essential. I ALWAYS have fun on this map, and I know a lot of others do, too.

de_ignorance_rc2 - Ignorance is a great map that everyone seems to enjoy, especially when there isn't a roof monopoly (though that can be countered).

de_inferno - See Whistler's post.

de_train - Refer to Whistler's.

de_spirit

cs_retreat - With a scout limit....this map would be incredible.

cs_backalley_source - The ONLY problem with this map is the general feeling of dislike and how it empties the server. It is a great PCS map that is quite a lot of fun.

cs_beruit_65 - If this map isn't overplayed again, definitely re-add it!!! CQC and LQC, hallways and open areas....it's a lot of fun. Though I think I prefer just "cs_beruit" cause the next version got some bizarre tweaks to it (CT paths onto the ramparts...ew. Don't like it even as a CT)


(note: I suggest making the rotation of a considerable size, so people don't end up playing the same maps several times in a day. I've had that happen, and it usually isn't very fun).



As for Hydroplant......cool map, but it doesn't allow for a whole lot in my opinion. I didn't find it that enjoyable - only the teammates made it bearable.


And yes, to the admins changing maps. The problem is, there aren't always admins avaliable. Especially for people like me who live on the US West...around 8pm there are few enough people as it is, let alone admins. They all seem to disappear before this time, almost always. And sometimes they are just too busy (understandable), or elsewhere.
Though as a note, an admin did change it to dm_port when I asked!!!! I said that map because I totally thought he wouldn't change it, though

Indeed, and as previously stated, Page_admin and other means of admin communication is not for map changes. There have been a few rare occasions where an entire team has suicided just because the vast majority on the players wanted a map change and we couldn't get ahold of an admin.

On topic, I'm just going to second poe's list, as it has all my favorites on it and thus I don't feel the need to create a redundant list.

Speaking on PCS maps, cs_gmex would be THE best map for PCS. If someone was able to port it... there are several different ways to do things, lots of good spots, ect. If you have CS 1.6, download this map and take a look. A team basically has to work together to acomplish missions.. I know that my server when it was up... this was the only map they really worked on. It was great!

Ouch. When I said De_contra, this was the map I thought I was talking about. After further review, I wish to add this to my list, along with contra, because they are both great maps!

Hell yea, i second that for sure... And im willing to part from Compound, just change the rotation!! BTW Any map can be PCS if you let it... Oh and id prolly add 3rd street to that, that was a good map imo..

The issue isn't whether a map has PCS potential... any non-completely onesided map has PCS potential. The real issue is PCS intuitiveness. If comparatively you have to really try or actively organize PCS gameplay into the map, it shouldn't be in rotation, because the chances are against normal play generating that level of PCS commitment when its easier to just switch to a 'better' map.

That said, Compound for the freaking win.

Bumpage... Anyone else have a good custom rotation idea? You've all played the maps, now its your turn to voice your opinion on which maps fit the PCS style of play and which don't.

Is there any sort of script out there that would shuffle the map rotation on a regular basis?

So it would be different rotation daily, weekly or whatever and the admin's wouldn't have to take time to adjust map rotation.

I have been searching on Google but really have no idea where to look, I'd imagine there has to be a way to do it.

Any chance we could put cs_747_css in? I know some people hate it, but some people (myself included) love it because it kinda has the challenging atmosphere of militia, that being that it's a difficult map for the CTs. I just think it is a very PCS map, where I have had some of the BEST PCS matches ever. It takes careful coordination, and fire control, so I think it belongs in the rotation.

This is another one of those things that might be possible to implement using ES, but first we need people (ideally admins) that can write the scripts.
