Re: New Map idea
to try and get this going in the right direction again, kinda, is there a way to add sound penetration to surfaces? because bullet penetration is good, but noone should hear a gun reload through 6+ inches of concrete.

Re: New Map idea
Sound penetration is a tricky thing to model. The only way I see to get it right would be to use the map's lighting data to figure the spatial relationship between a sound source and the hearer since sound bounces around like light does, plus the line-of-sight brush/material information.

Re: New Map idea
I've always wanted to see a good, authentic Die Hard map. Or the bank/street shootout from the move Heat.
I'd like to see more maps that are layed out like real places, and aren't just random hallways and rooms with pillars and crates thrown in. Familiar locations that a hostage situation or bomb attack might actually take place in. Offices, stores, houses, schools, city streets, etc. Warehouses and underground lab type places get old after a while. |

Ever eaten a cow pie? No? Then you're in for a treat my friend.

Re: New Map idea
I know this is an old thread, but I wonder if the PCS Mapping Standard would be completed if Dimension Studio might do a map for free. They seem like the kind of guys who are always trying expand their portfolio and build the CS:S community.
Also, I didn't notice a link to these guys before, and their pricing page is actually incredibly reasonably. Magnum, maybe save your pennies and pitch them your project. $40 bucks is cheaper than a tank of gas these days. -Aaron Last edited by What Is Schwa?; 06-10-2007 at 11:02 PM. |

I haven't heard of "Deminsion Studios" but it sounds like they are professional map makers? Well, the TG servers are awesome, I'd be happy to pitch in if these are THE guys to go to for map-making :]

From what I gather, they are a group of dudes who got together and asked themselves how they could get a little recognition. They have made a few incredibly detailed CS:S maps for a showcase portfolio. I was just answering Magnum's question. I have no experience with them at all, nor am I interested in personally purchasing a map. I'm a bit of an amateur mapper myself, so I am intrigued by their enterprise. I also think if the PCS mapping standard is ever finalized, these guys might make a map fitting our criteria just 'cuz. -Aaron |
