Re: A plea for ribbon nominations

To the prospective nominators:

I would say that 9 times out of 10 the reason a ribbon fails to receive enough votes is the actual nomination itself. A few of you in the military know how this works. Receiving a ribbon doesn't depend on the actual act itself per say but how its written up. Which is to say, If section-8 kills 8 guys with his knife and defuses the bomb and then it gets written up as 'eliminated op4, defused bomb'. No matter how awesome it is, its not going to get voted in. So when you are writing something up for a fellow player remember to include:

1) specific incidents! If a sniper medal, give specific times that person's sharp shooting impacted rounds or games and how they impacted them. And preferably more than once. Or one time...but it was 'totally sweet'.

2) details, details, details! Who was in the server? Who did he shoot? Exactly how many op4 stood in his way?

3) how does this action/deed uphold that whole PCS thing we hold dear?

Hope this helps a bit. If you guys feel like you put in a nomination that really deserved it, and got shot down... go ahead and rewrite up the nomination with more details and see if it gets passed.

How do you nominate someone, and where do you go?

Send a PM to Ribbons

This may help you decide a format for writing up a nomination as well:

Re: A plea for ribbon nominations

All right folks, the link Atomic Dog provided has some basic guidelines on how to write a nomination. We need to follow this format because some of the nominations we have been getting are in need of work. Having said that, keep them coming in!

EDIT: The reasoning behind the ribbon guidelines is that the more detailed you make a nomination, the better chance you have of getting it approved. Some admins don't have experience with certain players so the only thing they have to go off of is the nomination itself. Nominations that are written well have the ability to sway the opinion of the admin, so take care when writing these things.

The list of current admins whom vote on ribbon nominations (excluding the temp admins.)

Many of you know certain players who have shown progress and deserve a ribbon for their efforts. All I'm asking is that you let your voice be heard throughout the community, and allow those players the opportunity to be recognized for their hard work.

Nominating someone is easy. Write up a nomination and pm it to Ribbons. A full list of the ribbons and guidelines on nominations are contained within the Ribbons signature, which you can find on that page.

Take a good look at someone within the BF2 community, like WhiskeySix or Lucky Shot. They have multiple ribbons based on their determination and teamplay. We have guys who deserve that same distinction but we simply aren't getting the nominations. I am not using BF2 as justification for sending in more nominations. It certainly isn't a race, but we all deserve some satisfaction for what we do on our servers, wouldn't you agree?

If you are looking for a decent ribbon nomination example for PCS, check this out. We are relying on the players to do their part and help those within the PCS community get some acknowledgement. There are many different reasons and scenarios to nominate which you'll notice when you look at the ribbon list.

I'm hoping we can turn this around, so let's do just that. Thanks guys!

The reason I never submitted more is because it was a big pain to find a list of ribbons to submit people for. Now that I found the link, my coworker (who happens to be one of the ribbon approvers) will be busy

Hey it's not like I'm busy with work or anything.

I'd like to give a little update to the first post though. Please do not submit nominations via pm anymore. There is a semi-private forum for this now. The link is in my signature.

I want to get every ribbon possible. Could some list them all or just point me to the webaddress so I can set my goals and see which one I'm getting next? =)

Thanks,

Re: A plea for ribbon nominations

I just want to toss out my suggestion on the nominating for ribbons for PCS if no one has noticed only a few select people get ribbons and alot of people who deserve them dont and the reason for this is that the people who get nominated get nominated by friends or people who like them and the less known people or less liked who may deserve a ribbon get left out.
Also people can just get together and make up a good story and nominate each other for things that they havent even done. Thier are a lot of flaws in the PCS ribbon system but I have a suggestion that has allready been started its a more fair and deserving way for people to get what they deserve.

The !Awards system that is in place in game can be used for this.

After you rescue 50 hostages you get the first ribbon after you rescue 150 hosties you get level 2 ribbon and soo on... same goes for bomb plants and detination this will guarantee that everyone gets what they deserve.
