    Protect the VIP Team!

Since we've been playing VIP maps on a regular basis, it might be useful to start looking at tactics for the CT's to use that ensure the VIP's evacuation to the escape zone. One idea is to assign each CT on the team to a specific role that is suited to his or her talents.

    Pointmen

Two or three members can fill this role. The pointman's job is to lead the team through the map to the escape zone. They should know the entire layout of the map so they can navigate around potential ambushes or areas where the team can't progress without taking heavy casualties. Good communications on their part is a must as pointmen must inform the rest of the team when it's safe to move or when they need to hold up and deal with a potential threat. They should also have good situational awareness and be a good shot to boot. This role will have a higher casualty rate as they will be the first in line so it's best to have between one or two members to act in a backup role if the lead man goes down.

    Escorts

These players will stick closely to the VIP at all times throughout the map. They don't leave him exposed for any reason. When the VIP has to move, escorts take up positions to the front and rear of the VIP. Ideally there should be two or three escorts with him. Escorts should sort out who will be ahead of the VIP and who will be behind during planning time.

    Rear Security

While pointmen are focusing what's in front of the team, those on rear security must always be facing in the opposite direction to deal with T's who are looking to attack behind. Whenever the team has to stop, rear security must be fully aware of potential threats emerging from behind the team. Ideally one or two players can fill this role.

    Any other ideas?

not to suggest that anyone sucks, but it also means those frontmen need to pull off headshots *snaps* like that.

    Re: Protect the VIP Team!

It helps to have a team that is atleast somewhat capable of finding their exit strategy with both hands.

The team needs to be able to stick together. Far too often I see them get split up or have everybody get killed by a single terrorist. It turns into panic really, really fast.

A few rules for the VIP :

    * Stay as far away from windows/potential threats as possible. If you guys are in a corridor, stay to the back as much as possible. In a room, stick to the shadows or corners. It is not your job to be aware of what is going on outside.

    * SAVE YOUR AMMO. Stop taking shots when you don't absolutely have to. Trust me, you'll thank me later when your team got killed off and you have to try and bumrush the helicopter that is being guarded by three guys w/AKs.

    * (This is worth repeating) You need to keep yourself out of view as much as possible. When you pass a window, crouch. When you pass a doorway, move as quickly as possible and don't stop until you're well out of sight. Let your team peek out to survey the landscape. When their head gets blown off by some hacking PCS punk your whole team will thank you for not doing the same.

    * OH, and please keep your knife. I know a lot of people toss theirs to run a little faster, but here you never know when you might find yourself alone and out of ammo. Last time I checked the jesus pose doesn't help you dodge bullets.

Three point-men, then put a triangle around the VIP. One in front acts as a back-up and can scan the sides, The other two take up the rear. The point-men obviously just don't look straight...

BTW, the knife has 0 weight. It's got a helium filled hilt.

    Re: Protect the VIP Team!

I'm still having a hard time with the map but 1 thing I think needs changing Assault. After VIP who is most important? The guy that knows the map So wouldn't you want him side by side with VIP? Safe? He can control the team or when the first pointman that knows the map falls he can run up and take his place. Either way you don't want your gps men out front maybe third atleast. Or have both well ranked in the map on each side of the VIP.

    Re: Protect the VIP Team!

There's 15 maps made in total for VIP most of which aren't that great with the exception of what's in the map rotation now and two other fixed up maps that might be added to the rotation later on.
