Re: top 3 reasons why you shouldn't buy a full clip of ammo:

LMAO, you guys didn't know you could still buy small amounts of ammo? You can buy it in small amounts, you don't have to hit buy ammo for primary/secondary weapon. Typically it's bound to the , (primary ammo) and . (secondary ammo). I'm pretty sure that's the default bind, I never look when I'm buying if it's not, it's somewhere in that area. ><

I think the biggest reason you shouldn't buy a full clip of ammo for an M4 is that the M4 uses magazines, not clips. :-) Now maybe if you guy buy an M1 Garand in CS I would agree. :-)

    This is a clip:

    This is a magazine:

I'm going to start referring to "the things that hold bullets for use in weaponry" as flexnards. That way, I can at least be consistent.

Hehe. Okay. I won't even get into the differences between a cartridge and bullet. I have no idea why I even brought up the bit about clips vs. magazines. It just usually cracks me up when you see firearm "enthusiasts" using those two terms interchangeably.

Clips just hold rounds, while magazines actively feed them.

A bullet can be just the actual projectile component of the cartridge, but is also properly used to refer to the entire cartridge.

According to the half life SDK, M4's take bullets from m_iClip1, of type int.

I'd show an image, but it's difficult to get a picture of four bytes.

I somewhat agree with nightfire. A full load of rifle ammo is a luxury. If it is the diff between an extra grenade or extra clips, I often take the 'nade. I ALWAYS take the defuse kit.

And I can't believe no one knew you can buy ammo 1 clip/magazine at a time for all guns?!
    ,.
It was the same in 1.6, wasn't it? Never changed! Then again, I don't use any buy scripts/auto loadouts. I buy piece by piece, everywhere I go. ^_^

Teh mp5 full load is ludicrously high. You don't need that much. (tis also cheap though). As is the scout's loadout. (I agree with RandomGuy's comments on which weapons you need lots of clips for). (on a side note, does the mp5 primary ammo buy also seem to buy pistol ammo if you have the default pistol?? I swear it does, but it is so insignificant I keep forgetting to truely test it)

I'm not sure I ever think about the enemy picking up my gun as a reason to not buy ammo though. I'll get the ammo if I can afford it. But if I am short on money, or my team is on a loosing streak, I'll conserve and not fully load out. The extra money adds up and becomes the difference between an mp5 and a famas/gallil(whatever the cheap rifles are).

I believe it combines same types of ammo. Considering the glock and MP5 are both 9mm weapons, then you only have one ammo cache.

Another goood way to save money is to not rebuy armour until you get below 30 hp on your current armour since armour doesn't perform any better at 100 hp than it does at 10.

Never knew you could do this... I remember in one of the beta versions, you had to buy ammo magazine by magazine, but that was a loooong time ago...

Anyone confirm that you can do this in CS:S? It's not an option in the keymapping screen...

Confirmation : I,nightfire, and Uchiha Obito say you can, randomguy implies you can. How much more confirmation do you need? Just hit the buttons the next time you play. ,. <---- those two. Primary/secondary.

And in early beta versions you had to actually buy the right KIND of ammo for your gun, not just "primary", but "9mm" etc. THAT is anal. Glad you don't have to anymore.
