He also has no burden of equipment (other than that 125-point armor...)

    Re: Protect the VIP

I'm all for debating the mod, but can we do that in a seperate thread, AND do so in the general discussion forum please?

Let's keep this to tactics for getting the VIP to the EP, and tactics for killing the VIP.

Because Counter-Strike is a silly game. Tactically, its unfortunate that the MG isn't useful for really anything in CS.

As far as the VIP strategies go, I am with ya all the way up to the extraction zone. Granted, I don't play CS that much anymore, but I have to seriously question the merit of leaving the VIP alone and unguarded, so near the zone. This strategy assumes the terrorists will either be somewhere visible or will fire at any CT they see. I pride myself for chosing targets, and would find it difficult to kill the VIP until he broke off. With this map, it only takes a small glimpse of the VIP for a smart terrorist to predict his path. Beyond that, it's a matter of patience, aim, and a little luck. As for the VIP not shooting any Ts: If there are Ts to shoot, and the VIP is seperated from the team, you have most likely failed.

And finally, VIP speed. Have you guys looked at him? I mean REALLY looked at this guy? He's like a Christopher Walken character, or something. This guy doesn't run for no one.

On as_fleeiraq, we've been tending to leave the VIP in a place where they're a very short distance from the EP, with good defensive depth to the rear, and only 2 forward avenues of attack (both of which get covered as CT's move out to secure the area).

I'm curious, has anyone ever tried a fake during a VIP game? Like you send the VIP by himself one way and everyone else makes noise on another, or is it set up in such a way that this would never work?

It has as much chance as sending the bomber one way, and the team the other. That is to say it's a perfectly valid tactic.

    It worked surprisingly well

Of course, another time it failed miserably.

I recommending sending the VIP AND one man one direction, and a distraction another. So at least he can get some cover fire/smokes/flashes/etc if needed.

It's important that players are quick to think of themselves as nothing more than a (rather violent) meatshield. If the guy with the VIP engages targets, the VIP should be running in the opposite direction, communicating with the team. The escort should kill / wound as many T's as possible, but at the same time, expect to stand your ground and die buying the VIP time.
