Purchasing Pirates: Your Buy Binds

Setting up a 'buy bind' isn't too terrible hard if you know what you're doing. So, here I am to tell you how to do it!

Step 1) Search through your computer for your "Steam" folder, and find your "cfg" folder in the Counter-Strike stuff. The path will look something like this:
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\[username]\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg

Now for a quick tangent. Your "config.cfg" is where all your configurations go...but for your new modifications, you will want to create a new file called "autoexec.cfg". This is a file Counter-Strike will run every time you boot up the game, so the settings will come up every time.

Now that you're in the new autoexec file, we can work on binds.
bind: Assigns a command to a key.
Syntax: bind "key" "command"

Now for the actual bind itself. Personally, I prefer to set up buy binds on my numpad, so it's out of the way and easily organized. But for simplicity's sake, I'll just use "[key]" for the key (change it to whatever you like. At the end of this post, I will have a list of the various keys possible). I will use the variable "[purchase]" for the object you are buying.

bind [key] "buy [purchase]"

You can even set up keys for multiple purchases...

bind [key] "buy [purchase1]; buy [purchase2]"

(note: when actually doing the binds, leave out the brackets. The quotes will need to stay).

And yes, it is that simple. After finishing all the binds, make sure to save the file, and ensure the name is AUTOEXEC.CFG

Purchase Aliases
(this is the name you need to use to refer to the item with. It replaces [purchase]
  • alias ( gun name )

  • kp_downarrow ( 2 )

Re: Purchasing Pirates: Your Buy Binds

I have all my Function keys binded in order from F1 being vest/helm, F2 being primammo/secammo, to F11 and F12 being smoke and he/flash/flash, its all weapons in between Its also a good idea to throw defuser in on oevery bind you set so that you always buy one no matter what

Re: Purchasing Pirates: Your Buy Binds

I usually just use the default buy hotkeys which are bound to my 4th and 5th mouse buttons since I am always using m4/AK anyways.

I think I'll set one up for nades though! Thanks for the tutorial poe.

Yarr, Pirates can't be purchased, only pointed in the direction of likely loot!

Personally don't have a need, as I can buy my whole kit (whatever I feel I need/want) in a matter of 5 seconds. 93wpm + muscle memory number combo's ftw!

For me, I prefer to be able to buy more leisurely. And according to plans or money issues, I just have to hit a couple buttons to get all I need. For example, my setup...
"4-5-6" are "he-flash-smoke", 2 is armor, 7 m4/ak with primammo... etc etc. I find it to be useful and helpful. I also have the defuser in the keys as well, so it automatically buys the kit -first- whenever I try to buy something.

Re: Purchasing Pirates: Your Buy Binds

Does source use impulses to call weapon names? Say if I wanted to switch weapons, instead of selecting "slot2", would I select "sidearm"?

edit
Nevermind! I found what I was looking for!

Just so the public knows how to...

use weapon_weaponname

Replace "weaponname" with the weapon alias.

Re: Purchasing Pirates: Your Buy Binds

Hell I don't even use binds, I like to choose different specific things each round depending on the plan or a seperate part of the map I'll be playing. Plus I don't really need to be quick with that long freeze time now do I?

Re: Purchasing Pirates: Your Buy Binds

Wow. Those should be:

bind [key] "buy [purchase]". If someone could edit that...?
