We're not allowed to question the admins at all?

Well, not everyone is as perfect as you, Root; bear with us humans please. I, unlike you, have no ESP, so I had no idea the server had any such "SOPs" until I got kicked for not reading them. Albeit the hard way, I learned quick.

I, for one, think there are too many required readings scattered all over, and you really shouldn't expect the little chat messages in the bottom left corner to always be read. During the round, you need to focus and not get distracted by them, and when you're dead you might be AFK or just subconciously ignore them. I don't even notice server notes now because on any other server they're always stupid crap like "You're playing Bob's Super Server!" and "Type !surf for our surf server!".

TacticalGamer is making a visible effort to be different from such public servers. On the PCS server, ideally all information in that section of the screen is important. This is why (as far as I can tell) you're not supposed to chat while alive. Also, messages directly from admins are conveniently colored cyan, which stands out on most (all) CS:S maps.

In public? Absolutely not. This is made quite clear in the SOP forum. If you haven't read the SOP's yet, you really ought to.

Re: TG: There are no boundaries! Except... there are...

People ask all the time “why did I get kicked/banned”? Well it is pretty simply, they failed to take the 5 seconds when they log on to read the MOTD. That is there for a reason, it is a brief introduction to the game play we enjoy here. If people would take the time to read that there would be no basic questions in game about the same thing. That is enough to give anybody a start on the concept of PCS. Once they read them quickly they would grasp what we are trying to do here. The follow on questions are always welcome when it comes to more advanced scenarios and concepts as you get deeper into the game.

We do not expect everybody passing through to memorize (or even know) the SOPs/FAQs from TG. They will learn it with time, if they are interested in the style we play. If they are not, they will simply pass through and move onto another server. That is fine too; this place is not for everyone.

As for the “questioning admins”, I hope you meant to write “asking admins questions”. That is something I make a point to do is answer all game play related questions to people that are interested. That is how I learned by admins answering things about tactics and styles that are not covered in the MOTD or later in the SOPs. One thing that drives admins and players alike nuts is having to constantly tell a newer person to read the MOTD, that is available to everyone at anytime in game. There should be no reason to regurgitate any of that info in game to players. As for the scrolling information at the bottom of the screen, that is there as a reminder. Some of it is a announcement of upcoming events here and elsewhere at TG. The rest of them is friendly reminders of things that are currently issues on the server, like rules. If you are annoyed with them or ignore them, that is your choice, but do not be surprised if a violation of one of the bits of information you ignored catches up to you.

Yeah, the MOTD isn't a problem. But like the other day Root kicked at least one regular (he kicked two, not sure if the other was a reg) for not responding to a little admin message in the corner. The guys were probably afk for a moment because they were dead.

That's unreasonable. You don't want the admins to be oppressive. If you won't even acknowledge that the admins can make mistakes, that just seems like weak leadership.

Re: TG: There are no boundaries! Except... there are...

Here is my take on kicking due to AFK/Spectating. AFK, you go to spectators. If you are spectating or AFK on a full server, you are gone, everybody included. There are only so many slots on the server and someone being a spectator or AFK is holding up somebody joining, ready to play. If people want to take a break simply quit and come back. If they cannot due to a full server, they are able to become a Supporting Member and get back on at anytime.

But they were dead. You aren't wasting space if you're dead. I often go to get a snack or hit the bathroom or whatever if I die early because rounds (especially at TG) can last a long time. It's the equivalent of a commercial break.

Re: TG: There are no boundaries! Except... there are...

I can't speak for everyone, but I do know for a fact that most of us regs don't take being kicked personally for AFK/Spec'ing.

Personally, I don't take getting kicked personally at all...no matter what the reason. It's a simple thing to just reconnect. It's a much more complicated matter to get personal about it and raise an issue.

You asked about questioning admins in public, and then you proceed to do so once you know it's unacceptable. TG admins answer to their Game Officers. The GO's answer to Apophis.
