If I can't run this sucker on high on at least 1280x1024 I'm going to cry myself to sleep at night . I got my system mid September and this was the first game to make it cry. I could still use evga step up, but I'm having a hard time convincing myself to blow another $200.

If by some miracle the price of the gtx drops in the next 21 days duo to release of 8800gt I may just be inclined to use the stepup, i'm not holding my breath though.

As we explained earlier, the demo includes "Contact," the first level from the full game's single-player campaign. Crytek has also tossed in its Sandbox 2 in-game editor, giving modders a chance to sharpen their mod-sticks before the full game comes out on November 16."

    Re: Demo Discussion

I played the demo on high settings on 1280x1024 and I would get anywhere from 20fps (firefight with explosions maybe maxing out around 40 fps walking around in some areas. It is a beautiful game and is playable at those framerates.

However having said that I was expecting better performance from the retail product. Maybe with some future driver releases/patches the game would run at a framerate I would deem acceptable. Until then I will consider this game a pass (at least for buying :P).

Edit: This was also with the latest nvidia beta drivers released today.

Use the second of HB's link for downloading the demo:

    http://na.llnet.cdn.ea.com/u/demos/Crysis_SP_Demo.exe (getting about 250kB/s)

The first link gave me a password error before downloading and I wasted about an hour waiting in line.

The game looks incredible. This screenshot is at 1600x1200 no AA, every setting very high, on 8800GTX at 15 fps.

    Re: Demo Discussion

Alright on my system it runs about the same as the MP beta. Only it looks a hell of a lot better and it's the SP campaign so I am hoping things will be even better in the MP part. I am at 1280by1024 and on medium setting. I am going to mess around a bit to see how well I can get things going. I really don't want to upgrade. (I do but I have alot of figures coming out over the course of the next two months.)

As for gameplay in the disappointment thread you can find my complaints. I am iffy on the AI as I am playing the game very stealthly so my firefights don't last too long. Definitely needs to be played at the highest difficulty setting though and God I wished the game didn't use health regen. Still it's nice to play a shooter developed for the PC only.

    Re: Demo Discussion

Whoa! Sweet! From my play time with the demo it looks like it was worth the wait and lives up to the hype. I'm running the game 1360/1024 with low to medium settings and it's pretty smooth. I'll probably play with the settings some more to see what works best. So far though I'm quite happily surprised how well the game runs on my rig.

The Nano suit will really open up some interesting gameplay. I love using the combos of the suit, camo, strength, speed. You really feel like your in that suit. Visuals are great, sound, weapons feel like they have some punch and a bit futuristic but not unrealisitic. I like the improvements on the HUD from Far Cry, seems like it's easier to access.

Can't wait too play the retail version

    Re: Demo Discussion

It's exceedingly annoying there is no quiet instant kill on a sneak up. I tried going thru a second time, going stealthy. I don't know if it's hit boxes or what, but the guy peeing in the outhouse. I'm right behind him, and he's oblivious. The only way I can kill him without alerting everyone else is by grabbing him, carrying him out to the woods, and throwing him. I tried many times, shooting him dead in the back of the head with the rifle and silencer only for him to start yelling at me. No matter what I do, it takes 5 or 6 shots to bring him down and everyone is alerted.

Something is screwy with the hit boxes or something. Once, I snuck up on a hill infront of one of the check points, the 2 guys are talking to each other. I aimed up a headshot, fired one shot and both fell dead. I was like 'holy crap, the other guy died of surprise or something.

Running at 1680x1050, all medium settings, except I put textures on high. Runs about two to three times better than Beta2 of the MP.

    Re: Demo Discussion

I am more than happy , just played for 45 min. The game actually runs pretty good on my 1900XTX, I had to switch off AA and I can still run High on most except shadows and volumetric which I run on medium. Stilll not smooth but very playable.

This game is one piece of art graphics wise. No other game can really compare and thats on my 1900XTX I cant even imagine how much better it will be on a new card and DX10.
