    Ran through the single player on medium. Graphics were still very good, liked how flexible the scenery was. I admit, I bumped a tree at about 2 mph in a jeep and it fell over. I did like that the jeeps took directional damage and could see definite uses for the different suit traits.

    I found the guns to be fairly inaccurate and lacked punch. Sitting in the mounted jeep gun firing at a boat in the bay was kicking up bullet spray all over the bay. The same was true of hand guns as it would take an awful lot of shots to knock down someone within 20 feet.

    the guns are just not there for me either, the shotgun was odd you either die and get knocked back 10 feet or you take 5 shells to kill and then they just fall over. I am most disapointed in that the only melee weapon there is are you fists, no knife? no sneak throat slashes? that would make the game more complete since I seem to run out of amo every other minute. the only thing lacking on my system is my card a 7800GT that I got for free from a friend, maybe its time for a little overclock

    I forgot to mention I was on dx9 mode, installing on Vista now.

    *edit, or is dx10 even supported in this demo?

    yup dx10 is in the game but supposedly you wont se any dx10 effects unless youre in very high.

    As for the guns...headshots kill instantly (for me at least) and i know armor is the best in a firefight but if you want better accuracy use strength to steady your aim and reduce recoil. This is especially true once you start using the precision rifle with sniper scope (from beta). And fists kill instanly if youre in strentgh mode as well.

    Is that turtle/tortoise alive (if you shoot it, will it bleed, will it run away, will its shell deflect bullets etc?)

    It's looking to be an awesome game, I'm just hoping that I can get a good system+vista before the 16th...
    I just need a better processor (need dual core-can do more!) but I already meet the minimum system requirements.

    I take the AK, and the default weapon, load them both with tranquilizers, so I can shoot one, and then switch to the other gun and shoot it, since its got a cool down before you can use it again. Then put the suit in strength mode, and go punch the sleeping devils.

    *Tried on vista with very high textures. Not good enough FPS. Then, I put it on the same settings as I have in XP, still worse FPS. XP it is.

    well, i tried taking off AA and putting everything to high instead of medium...it runs just as good or even better. AA made a huge impact on performance. Theres jaggies but its no where near as bad as it was in the beta. Id rather have all high and no AA rather than medium and a palstry 2x AA i was using.

    At your resolution, aliasing is not even that bad, even at 1680x1050 jaggies are pretty small.

    Unfortunately punching in Strength mode is not preferable to a regular quick kill. It throws the victim and knocks down stuff, alerting everyone you are around. I think the tranq is possibly a good option.

    I killed myself by punching out the wall of a building. It was an instant kill when those galvanized roof plates hit me in the head, which I though was a little much. Those things are not that heavy. Being killed by thin sheet metal falling 3 feet while in a super suit, seemed a little excessive.

    Looking forward to the mods; especially that realism mod.

    Re: Demo Discussion

    After having slept on it I have to say I'm not very impressed with Crysis and Crytek at the moment. They have released a game which may look pretty but is not backed up by their requirement/performance claims.

    For the past several months they were supposed to be tweaking so current high end rigs could enjoy all the goodies. I'm seeing systems on other forums with sli gtxs and 3Ghz quads maybe only getting 40-45 fps at 1920x1200 on high. Granted this is partially due to drivers and game still not being optimized (although thats what they were supposed to be doing for the last couple months).

    Anyway, seeing beast machines like that struggle makes me wonder what my machine will be capable of. From what I know a machine like mine was supposed to be able to play high @1280x1024 (maybe even higher res) but as it currently stands it can't. Now I never made the decision to purchase this game in the first place, but I was hoping the demo would push me to do so, and it failed at doing that.

    Wait, so you haven't tried the demo yet? Just download and try it. Then post.

    I was underwhelmed by the demo. It was okay, but maybe the rest of the game is better. It is very slick, both in interface and abilities. Honestly just feels like a prettied up Far Cry (which I loved 3 years ago). Maybe playing Episode 2 in the same day jades me, but I enjoyed the COD4 demo more than the Crysis demo. I'm willing to acknowledge that it is just a demo, and to wait for the reviews though.

    Re: Demo Discussion

    Seems like a decent game (based on the demo), but I'd have to say it's nothing special. It's nice that the gameworld is basically open and it's nice that the game looks so good. However, all that doesn't make up for what I thought was kind of run-of-the-mill gameplay. Ran well with medium settings and 1024 x 1028 res. (haven't tried any other configs).

    Settings:
    Intel Core 2 Due E6600 @ stock (2.4ghz)
    EVGA nVidia 8800 GTS (640 MB model)
    2 GB PC2 6400 (Corsair XMS brand)
    Regular 7200rpm drive, a gigabyte mobo, and an xconnect powersupply.
    The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving.

    Re: Demo Discussion

    My review , I know I am biased but I am very impressed with this game, its all in the details. I now played it for 2 hours this is a summary of those details.
    Overall best things
    * Multiple ways to accomplish a goal
    * Awesome graphics on my Core Duo 6750 and 1900XTX alot better than anything on the horizon. played both COD4 demo, Lost Planet, Call of Juarez, UT3 demo they all pale in comparision

    Some other items on my best game of all time list.

    * Setup and Controls are very good
    * Ambient sounds are excellent
    * Textures are clear and realistic and very detailed
    * Physics are out of this world, everything is breakable and movable. COD4 was crap in that department.
    * Sky and day / night effects both graphics and sound are incredible, sunrise is just beautiful
    * Water effetc are the best ever seen.
    * Object dont stop your movement unrealisticly you can climb on rocks and other things. Only thing that really stops you are cliff walls. Its about time that a 3 feet wall dont stop you from moving over it.
    * Great idea with Weapons Enhancements. Flash light etc
    * Cutscenes are in engine so great imerssion.
    * The vaporize effect in the begining are the best of that kind ever seen
    * After figuring out that cloak is affected by your stance and cover its so damn cool to sneak up on the enemies and kill them with a head shoot.

    * Explosions when you shoot thing that should explode, Barrels, Gas Tanks and so on.

    * Blood in game, no teen rating idiocy.

    * If you throw a grenade in a en-closed room it give real effect the whole room is affected, everything thrown all over the place.

    -Game Play

    * Stealth is very rewarding
    * Enemies use good AI not great but the best I have seen and not scripted , which mean not one game plays the same.
    * Immersion is just total.
    * Good voice acting
    * Easy to follow story and plenty of secondary objectives almost like an RPG.

    Weak stuff
    * I have had any issues with weapon accuracy but as I always lay down or crouch when firing and use single shoot this might be an issue.

    Technical
    * Runs without a hitch.

    Overall.

    I dont understand the people that are not impressed with all the things that the Crytek engine has, what are you comparing to. There is NO game that even comes close all the details and new things that are in the CryTek engine. For me most other FPS games are going to feel lame compared to CryTek engine.

    Sure the hardware needs to be there, but we knew that allready. Quit seeing all the negtives and compare the game to other games we allready have. I might like the COD4 story better and the setting but damn if COD4 ran this engine it would be awesome. This whole engine for console ports thing just takes a way all the good things that you can get with a PC. The CryTek egnine show this with whats possible in Crysis. I cant wait to see what other games comes from this engine. And CryTek has said that they will continue updating the engine so next year it will be even better.

    PC gaming finally can show its true strengths against the one size fits all of consoles.

    Re: Demo Discussion

    i'd have to agree with Redbane here, this game engine set a new standard, no engine compares as of the moment. you need hardware to run this game. but once everything's there this game is more dynamic then anything ever seen.

    then again maybe im biased, i've waited two years for this moment and seeing it in its full glory made me eye's water at the first cutscene
