Re: Demo Discussion
I was pretty impressed. I only have 2.1 ghz processor and I was able to run it very well on low settings. I could even play it on medium, though it was a tad slow so i went with the better performance on the low settings.
Anyway, graphically its amazing. I love how you can shoot a tree in order to kill a guy taking cover behind it. Destroying a humvee by throwing a nade underneath it, and then seeing it flip over and blow up 10 yards away without it even stuttering is amazing. Also, the way it turns from night to day so seamlessly is impressive. The first time i played it, I didnt even notice it change until i realized that the game started at night, and that it was suddenly day.
The gameplay is very good imo. I played through it first on normal, going guns a blazin'. Not hard at all, but decent amount of fun. I went on to delta difficulty, and found I was not going to be able to go guns a blazin' against a lot of enemies without saving and loading a lot. So i decided to use cloak a lot more. Basically what I would do is find a nice hill overlooking a camp or a patrol, and figure out their patrols and where they were looking. From there I would cloak and find cover where they wouldnt see me. Then id recharge the energy bar, and do it again until I was near an enemy. One shot him in the head, and take out the rest of the camp like that. Of course at some point they realized there was someone after them, but continued use of quick cloak allowed me to get out of cover quickly without being shot at while i lined up a nice headshot. The funniest time was during a firefight with a guy. We were both using cover, so i decided to cloak. I got behind him, and he was still firing at where i was previously. I uncloaked and punched him to death from behind
To anyone that says headshots dont one shot kill, they most certainly do. I can only assume you have bad aim
I think you have to hit flesh though, as hitting the hat on their head wont kill them. It may be a bit silly since it looks like a simple hat, but it at least forces you to aim better.

Re: Demo Discussion
The cloak hide and cloak again is just so cool. When I figured out that amount of cover affected how long you where cloaked it was a whole new ball game.
What I do is use the Binoc to track everybody then I sneak around. Take the guy in the machine gun of the car in the back with one head shoot and sneak up on everybody from behind and kill them one after one with a head shot.
Btw if you dont like the lip sync. I noted that framrate affects the lip sync so higher framerate gave much better lip sync. Also biggest tip for better framrate remove AA and lower shadows it helps a lot.
Now lets hope the new 8800 GT or the 3870 Radeo will allow good performance in crysis
They should be around 200$ GT releases next week and 3870 the 15th of november.
I just cant wait to play this multiplayer with physics(DX10)

Re: Demo Discussion
I haven't read anything from anybody who isn't impressed with the engine, other than the performance issues. The only issue's I've read here seem to be gameplay issues. I would have to agree, that it just seems so much like a technically fancier FarCry gameplay wise.
Nobody said that. I only said the one guy taking a piss in the outhouse it happens to. A headshot will not kill that guy. I kept reloading and tried over and over again. I'm like right beside the guy. I shoot him in the head, he ducks and starts yelling at me. After a while I finally just grabbed him, dragged him out to the back woods, and tossed him away.
Still, really looking forward to the mods. It looks like they have gone way out of their way to make this a long lasting game in terms of third party support, and yes, the engine is fabulous. The Dirty

Re: Demo Discussion
I really liked the game play in Farcry. It got a little long at the end but still it was a cool FPS and the freedom to approach objectives in diffrent ways just made it more fun to play again. I think Crysis increases that freedom so should be more fun to play.

But that said I imagnie that they have some cool new gameplay elements in the rest of the game. We know about Zero Garvity the whole completly frozen enviroments which seems pretty inovative.

Re: Demo Discussion
I'll tell you guys one thing, this thing sure knows how to stress the gpu
. card is at 70C which is about what it gets to using atitool. I found a nice mix of medium/high settings which keep above 40fps. Maybe I will buy this game sometime, but not at the moment.

Have your hands at the ready and hit the "F" key when you are close to whom ever you want to grab. You then carry throw them by left clicking on the mouse or carry 'em around

Re: Demo Discussion
I find the game very close to Farcry. You get to an island, have to fight bad guys and finally there are aliens. Same story. The graphics, yes they are beautiful if you run out now and buy a new computer. On my machine I can run at 1024 max with medium settings! I need a new machine.
Did anyone try it out on Vista and on XP? Is there a difference in the DirectX 9 and 10 versions?Gigabyte P35-DS3R, 2GB, 8800GTS 640MB, Core2Duo E8400

Re: Demo Discussion
How do you tell what DirectX version it is running at? I'll assume I'm running on DX10 cause I'm getting about 30FPS on High

Re: Demo Discussion
if you have vista and a DX10 GPU, it's DX10 by default. to get all the pretty notable DX10 features-
Post processsing must be on Very High..........it adds things like sun shafts, makes the lighting more realistic, turns on Z-feather (particle effects), and makes people's faces look alot more like real skin.

Re: Demo Discussion
This is a very amaaaaaazin demo sililar to FarCry but taken on a jump.
I also think this will make a good multiplayer on line experience which FarCry although a great SP game didn't quite do."I like a man who grins when he fights"

Re: Demo Discussion
The more I tinker with the demo, the more little things I find which I love. This game is starting to grow on me. Now if only they would improve performance, I might buy it!
