    Worth Getting Vista?

Or more specifically dx10? I have a 8800gtx so vista is the only thing missing. I suppose what I am asking is what little extras does it add? How much extra power does it take to run, because right now I can run everything maxed and be more than fine. Well 16q will slow down in some parts, but regular 16x will run smooth.

And I guess most importantly, I have heard a bunch of headaches from running Vista. Games not running right ect, graphics drivers being screwy. Have theses been mostly solved?

With everything on very high on Vista with 1 8800GTX, I get roughly 15fps. What frames are you getting with everything maxed on XP?

And games run perfectly fine on Vista. The drivers have been stable for quite some time now. Well at least the newer games run fine.

lol, to me 15 FPS is far from fine, but thats besides the point seeing as this is a demo and whatnot. From what I've gathered, this game, specifically this demo, there are no huge gains in terms of performance. I felt like this was a pretty good review: http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/articl...50aHVzaWFzdA==

It gives quite a few ss comparing Vista DX10 vs. DX9 XP to show what is different.

Yeah, thats been my deciding factor in getting the 8800 GT; I'm gonna wait about a month or so extra to see if prices move. There was also a few other articles I've found that talk about putting DX10 features into the DX9 demo, on XP. Not entirely sure if that'll be possible in the retail release, but be fun for the few extra things in singleplayer if your PC can handle it.

I've already got the 880 GTS 640Mb, and dx10 shows about 5% dip in FPS compared to dx9, or at least thats the way I interprite the article.

But whats the difference between 32bit and 64 bit for performance in crysis ?
I could upgrade to either with my hardware (3 month old PC)

I believe the only things you HAVE TO have vista in order to get are , Very high shaders (SM 4.0) witch give a darker more "Realistic" lighting in jungles. and 3D waves.
