Screenshot says it all
Love the game, just would love to be able to play it on very high settings with my rig:
QX6700 @ 3.2, 8800GTX stock, 4GB RAM ![]() all settings on very high: ![]() no AA and 1680x1050 res. ![]() and I get 15 FPS just looking at a pretty view, firefights are unplayable. ![]() I'm also running the 64-bit demo under DX10 - from the other posts I have read that's a recipe for disaster apparently. I truly hope this is fixed before the game's released, these results are pretty unacceptable for a non-beta demo. -T |

Re: Screenshot says it all
With a 8800GTX? ... . are you kidding me?! I will never get to play this if this is as good as it gets..
I was going to get a 8800 just for Crysis..but it seems that's just a step in the right direction but won't get you there completely........

Re: Screenshot says it all
Uhhmmm, do you guys remember a little game called Oblivion? I seem to remember that kicking the crap out of available tech at the time. This game was made looking into the future. Sure, you bought the top of the line right now and you want it to do everything for you, but thats simply not how the market works.
Tone down some of the settings, you really won't see a huge difference on some of them. And pay attention to the top right corner of your screen, see that? Says "Pre-Release Demo," meaning this isn't the final build. I wouldn't expect a night and day difference between this and the release build, but I also wouldn't judge it completely off the demo.

Re: Screenshot says it all
Those are similar results to what I got (8800 GTX with a 6600 at 2.5Ghz). I turned Volumetric effects and Game effects down to high and it runs much better --at least I think it was those two. I also had to turn AA off to have anything playable

Re: Screenshot says it all
Yeah, this game should scale at least a year, maybe by this time next year, everyone can run very high+4xaa or more.
![]() I remember BF being like that for me, running medium-low settings for the first year, then upgrading and being able to turn couple more settings up. Etc. |

Re: Screenshot says it all
Most likely the GTX is going to be replaced performance wise with a new GTS in one month then really replaced with a new GTX january of february next year.
If you buy a GTX now you need to rethink you decision. If you just bought one and can return it, do so. The GT that was just realased is close to GTX performance and if you overclock it then its faster, and that card is 300. The GTX was top of the class for a long time, its time right now for a completly new class of cards. Then again the really intersting class will come out later next year so if you have a GTX that you cant return I would wait for that class. I suspect we are going to be able to run Crysis on very high in the begining of next year then if you run SLI/Crossfire you will be able to add some AA/AF. For me this is perfect as I waited for this newer class and crysis. So I will get SLI/Crossfire and run this beast on very high. But the game still look amazing on my 1900XTX so I am in no hurry. I will just wait a one more month until the dust settles. http://www.dailytech.com/But+Wait+Th...rticle9474.htm |

Re: Screenshot says it all
I agree with what everyone is saying in this thread but I guess what I'm looking for is something from Crytek in regards to what it takes to run this game with everything turned up.
No way to say this with out sounding like I'm bragging but my rig is a beast, and I'm not sure what other components I could get or tweaks I could do to get much more performance out of it. Yet this game brings it to its knees without a blink. And yes, I realize that it's a demo but seriously, we have all played demos before and I've never seen so many complaints from people who own high-end rigs as I've seen with this demo. Just wading through some of the threads on EA's official Crysis forum confirm this. My mind may be slipping, but when BF2 & later, 2142, were released, if you had a great rig, you could run the demo (plus the game) with all the settings turned up and not have any issues. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the Crysis code monkeys are all over these performance issues, but, based on this demo, I've pulled my pre-release order until I hear how the gold version runs in real-life on high-end rigs. Until then I'm having a blast playing TF2 with all the eye candy on @ 8x AA, totally butter-smooth. -Vladd *edit* - forgot to mention that I'm using the beta Crysis drivers. Re: Screenshot says it all
Crytek has always maintained that no hardware today would max out the game. They answered your question a long time ago. Pulling your order because you can't have all the eye candy right now, just seems silly.

Re: Screenshot says it all
Read some interviews and listen to some podcasts from the devs, they made the game scalable into the past and into the future.
The more and more I look at this game, the more and more I see that they made it break/push current tech as far as it can. Guarantee you that current high-end rigs won't be able to push this game fully at high resolutions without performance issues. Its just a simple fact. Turn down a few settings and you'll still get the same game.

Re: Screenshot says it all
This whole thing with very high setting on crysis reminds me of when Farcry came out and literaly no video card of the day could handle its Ultra settings.

Re: Screenshot says it all
Instead of criticizing Crytek for making a game that no current video card can truly handle, you should congratulate them for pushing the rest of the market to get one out that can handle it quicker. Its not like these companies are going to make a brand new kick ass video card when no game on the market even needs it.
Even further impressive is how theyve managed to make the game playable on my incredibly crappy computer yet still make its highest settings push the rest of the market to make a better video card. |

Re: Screenshot says it all
You just can't run the game right now at very high settings on any rig with acceptable frame rates. You had to know that going in. How long has Crytek been saying that they were pushing the envelope with advanced graphics. I don't mean to pile on, but canceling your preorder is a bit premature. I have the same card as you and with every setting on 'high', the game still looks incredible.
I mean Santa is right. Competition is good for all of us. We want Nvidia and ATI developing new cards to see which one can get the foot up on Crysis. Of course you'd think it'd be Nvidia since they're partners. But we need ATI to match them to push the market as Santa mentioned, as that ultimately benefits us, the end users. I mean really, who doesn't want to see photo realistic graphics, advanced physics, real time lighting and every other tech that Crytek has in this game? I sure do. And if I can't play it right now with everything maxed at 60fps, then so be it. The game will feel brand new next year when the 9800GTX's are out, or whatever Nvidia has planned.
