Re: New "Crysis" driver 169.09 out for Nvidia cards
I'm always confused on which drivers I have or if the update is applicable to my PC. If I have an ATI video card does it still use Nvidia drivers? Are they two different companies?

Yes, Nvidia is a different company than ATI. You'd want to head over to their site for any driver updates. Reason we're seeing so many Nvidia driver releases is because Crytek worked with Nvidia for this game.
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html You'd head there to see if there any new drivers for your particular card.

Different companies and they use different drivers. ATI card use ATI drivers. Nvidia card use Nvidia drivers. And ALWAYS uninstall drivers if you change graphics card.

With my 8800GT Superclocked, I got to the frozen wasteland part of SP, the part you can see in one of the preview video's and it brought my system to it's knees. I stopped playing there. Well see with the new driver and some changed video settings whether it will be any better.

This Patch made a huge difference for me. I could run mostly medium some low on 1280 by 1024. But now i can run half high half med at 1280 by 1024.

I'll just let you know. I played a good amount of the game with mostly high settings on my 8800GT perfectly fine, but now at the frozen wasteland, and later on in non-spoiler areas, the graphics demands are much greater. You will need to lower your settings.

Re: New "Crysis" driver 169.09 out for Nvidia cards
I've got dual 8800GTS's in SLI, i guess the new drivers allow for them to actually work on crysis now, but i havnt seen any performance gains like everyone else is saying.. Even after a complete driver uninstall/reinstall...
Could be because i've only got the 320's, but still no difference SLI or not.

Re: New "Crysis" driver 169.09 out for Nvidia cards
Sounds like what happened to me in Far Cry, was playing fine up until the level in the trees with all the fog, had to really lower my settings to get through that level at a playable level. I know from playing the Crysis demo that at the end of it when you fist encounter the ice my system was really struggling. Cant play this myself til friday so will see what ist like with my system /me fingers crossed

Hello to all.
Last night I did some experiments with the new beta driver and the game settings. The system: OS: WXP 32bits SP2 MB: Gigabyte CPU: P4 3,4GHz GPU: 8800GTS 320MB RAM: 4GB DDR2 Dual Channel HDD: SATA Crysis graphics settings: All to "HIGH" with no AA Resolution: 1440 x 900 (native monitor resolution) Aspect Ratio: 19:10 Monitor: Widwscreen Samsung LCD 19" nVidia Control Panel settings: All settings defined for "high quality" The results: I did not measure the actual FPS (too lazy), but I noticed a small overall improvement over the non-beta driver. But the most important discovery was this: I loaded a level (from previous save) and soon after the level was loaded and displayed on screen, I noticed the same performance as before the beta driver. But after 30 seconds or more, the game seemed to perform better and the overall feel and player mouse movement was better. What is this ???? I did this test many times with different level saves and the results was the same. After 30 secs - 1 min from the level load, the game runs OK (for my taste and system anyway). In these initial seconds, the game was not so responsive. The odd thing is that I did not noticed this behaviour defore. With the non-beta driver, the game seemed to performed the same at all times, I mean I did not noticed that small performance "boost" after the initial 30" - 1min level load period. I have to downgrade the driver and test again to verify this but I will not . Maybe I get used to the game... I don't know...Have any of you experienced the same issue ? Someone to do a more scientific test ? To conclude, I think the beta drivers will improve the performance of the game in general. However, don't expect miracles... ![]() Regards.
