Game locks up ?
just got my new quadcore and it cam with EVGA-e-Gerforce 8800GTS KO crysis 540mhz 640mb 1.7ghz card and i let the system choose settings ,all high but after i play for like 10 min systems locks ? then i have to reboot ? is that cause my v-card is overheating ? they sell game with the card so ya think it should play it fine ? i tryed new drivers but when i went to load game i got black screen so how to i fix this ? i shouldnt have to lower graphics to medium ?

well, i would try lowering settings for one. What resolution do you play on? I know i lower my shaders, objects and shadows to medium on 1920x1200 and i have an 8800 ultra. So if you have a decently high res, i would def recommend lowering settings.
Do you have the beta drivers since those are more optimized for Crysis? It could be overheating, have you checked your temps while playing?

i have all on high , but i will lower shader,objects and shadows to medium i have Anti aliasing quality on off and i have been running game in 1680x1050 ? as for beta drivers do you mean for the game or card ? also not sure on how to check temps while playing ? just got this pc a week ago and new to vista ! having internet issues which i posted in hardware fourm help .....

Just try lowering your settings to medium. I know when I first played Crysis, it auto set my settings to max. The result was about 5 FPS in game.

I got a lot of weird crashes in Crysis and fiddling with the game settings fixed things. It's a really weird game. I don't really know what made it stable enough for me to play but it was really annoying fiddling with game settings until it worked somewhat reliably.

Well in your card settings, are you allowing the "application controlled" box to be checked? Sometimes when you are trying to force settings from you card into an application it doesn't like that. Just let the application decide what to do when you play a game.

vsync off
anti-a @ 4x
full screen
Plays fine well @ 30-40ish FPS (Wish it were higher but it's really fine)
Like illusion said make sure your NV Control Pannel is set for app. controled
Mine runs 50-75 Celcius...I hear you don't need to worry until upper 90Cs on these cards...Seems crazy but whatever...When my card was at 72 the NV fan control only had the fan running @ 35%... Still can't hear it at 55%
I started having major lockup/crashing problems at the paradise lost level and onwards. Got to the point where it froze at ever checkpoint and then where it wouldn't even load saved games...I spent all day working on it and finally d/led some guys save game...apparently mine were corrupted...oh well. Not at all like your problem but lame.
