Pirates are everywhere...any console that gets cracked wide open has just as many problems in that department. Its one issue in pc land but the issue has always been there. Really crysis failed because the hardware requirements blocked out probably more than 50% of pc gamers. Me for example...I know it won't even load on my pc. I wouldn't be surprised if half the copies pirated were just done to see if they could run the damn thing. heh Plus Crytek are not exactly A grade devs in regards to gameplay yet.

You can't blame em though. Consoles growth has been amazing the last 5 years. Its stupid to ignore all that potential profit if you have a game that caters to the console market...which Crytek does.

    And that justifies piracy?

I did not say that. I was saying a lot of people probably didn't bite after Far Cry was just a glorified tech demo to a lot of people.

Crysis didn't actually fail. It has sold thus far over 2mil worldwide.

I see the future as being developed for console and ported to PC for most games and ported 6 months after console release

far cry and crysis ruled. I dont care what anyone says theyre both awesome games. They were the only company pushing the limits of what can be done graphically, and now, well, its a shame that its come to this.

Everything these days is a technology demo. Consumers (remember kids, that is as a whole, not individually) want to see what their hardware can do and if there is a good game behind it, great.

This is kind of backasswards. I would rather see a good game and if it has visuals that make my eyes bleed, great.

It's easy to blame it on the piracy when you need a $1500 rig to run this game on medium.. and the multiplayer is a failure.

    Re: This is fairly depressing.

As long as the games comes to PC even if they are ported I am happy, besided the best games on PC are in my view are Strategy games anyway. The PC just have to figure out the pricing model and stick with online games or episodic content that can give steady income. I also suspect Nivida and ATI will not let the hardware sales die, they might even sponser their own games if Crytek wont, there is still a lot of money in the graphics card market.

We are also for the first time seeing cheaper graphics cards with much better performance than a 360 or PS3. If PC still offer a better experience then I believe people will still play on PC.

But pirating is a problem and as mention not exclusive to PC anymore, the only fix I see is a new way to sell and pay for games on PC, I am surprised the store model still works. The online model is just so much more efficent and smoother and if they could have skipped stores and gone all online and reduced the price and at the same time provide more updates and only from online stores like Steam with a login the pirate would be much less of a problem.

Piracy is piracy no matter how much you look at it... Too bad for them there aren't that many buyers of them crysis games cuz of the high system requirement
