New details about the 64 Bit version of Crysis Warhead

Looks like I won't be buying it till they get that fixed. I went with Vista64 so I could take advantage of what 64bit offers. Guys I will have to wait for a patch.

New details about the 64 Bit version of Crysis Warhead - Missing files to be supplied via patch?

Re: New details about the 64 Bit version of Crysis Warhead

I bought it to be the First game on my New Box with DX10 / Vista 64 and it won't launch at all.. I get a black screen or a STEAM Connect UI error of some sort.. I wanna test forcing the DX9 mode and also see if I can get BF2(PR) up and running before I complain to badly about Crysis Warhead...

Bleh..

Re: New details about the 64 Bit version of Crysis Warhead

Ok..what worked is FORCING Crysis Warhead to do DX9 only.. and that got me past the Black SCREEN and into the game..
It done under the Properties/Set Launch Options (In Steam selecting the Game).. just put in -dx9 and that will get you there...

I was assuming that dx10 would work on this vista box.. but not sure what my issue is..

That's strange, I have vista 64 and warhead runs in dx10 very nicely.

Well, yes, it'll play, but you are running it in 32 bit mode as you would with any other games that don't have a specific 64 bit patch/install.

Wow because they could be activated via a console command they decided to keep the 64 bit files out of release. That's just really dumb IMO and will leave another bad taste in customers mouthes. If the pirating comments weren't enough, they continue to treat their customers as criminals.

Hope they change that outlook.

It shouldn't matter, there are no performance increases for playing on 64-bit.
64-bit is for content creators but since there is no editor for Warhead yet it's not that big a deal.

BTW, I checked the headers and the 32bit versions are at least large address aware.
(BF2 is not, however, but since you're on vista 64bit I'm assuming you've got more than 2GB ram so ask me if you'd like to fix that).

Download editbin and then run:

'editbin.exe /LARGEADDRESSAWARE' on the .exe

Re: New details about the 64 Bit version of Crysis Warhead

OK, computer idiot here, Bought Crysis Warhead, got it home, Installed it, even had Kdaddy come over and try to help out, for some reason it wont run on full screen. We tried it with the dx9 and the dx10 version.

If you set it to go full screen in the game settings, the mouse pointer disappears and the game wont run. What was really weird is that while it was in a smaller window, the pointer was gone until i brought up task manager, as soon as the task manager screen appeared the pointer showed back up. weird huh??? But we finally got it going, just cant run full screen mode and even though i have the system i have , i cant run it in gamer or enthusiast mode without it being laggy. but it still looks awesome and i LOVE this game.

By the way, I am also using the 64bit windows vista ultimate with 4 gigs of ram and a 3.16 Ghz processor. Using the new Raedeon 512mb 4870 card also. I thought this machine would run it pretty well. I would at least like to run it in gamer mode. Any ideas????

Re: New details about the 64 Bit version of Crysis Warhead

You should be able to run it in enthusiast. Something is definitely wrong with what you're describing. Although, I have heard of performance issues with ATI cards. This game is heavily optimized for nVidia. A lot of people recommend playing SP in dx9.

I have no clue about your missing pointer. You could try to change the resolution to like 1024 and then back up to normal. Make sure you've got the latest drivers and if that still doesn't work maybe a reinstall is in order.

Re: New details about the 64 Bit version of Crysis Warhead

ok did a reinstall and had Kdaddy come over and mess with it, we tried running it in dx9 and dx10, did a reinstall, the only way i can get this to run is in the 1980X1020 and then it isnt total full screen. Unless I have a task bar or something like that up it wont give me my pointer in the startup screen like when you are choosing from the menus. Also have been right in the middle of a game and for NO reason it will jump out to the menu screen all on its own. WHICH runs really really slow, I click resume game and it will go back and play just fine for a while then about 10 min later it might do it again. WEIRD

Looking forward to playing multiplayer, do we have a server addy yet????

Hmm, I have Vista x64 with a 4870x2 and mine wont run full screen either. It'll run in a window but if I force to full screen it'll crash. Same if I start it in full screen. Kinda irritated at this point in time... how do you force to run dx9?
