Re: HD Crysis DX10 GeForce 8800 Presentation
I really don't know what could go wrong if you underpowered a graphics card. More than likely you would not realize the full potential of the card. Which would leave you wondering why you just spent $500 on a card when your old one was doing just as bad.
So for a 8800GTX it is recommended that a 450W with 30A on a 12volt rail Min. So you got your card and maybe a optical and a hard drive. But why run the mimimum? When you are already spending some change for a good - great card. Atleast power it like you want the performance and reliability.
If you want to run SLI then you will atleast need the PC Power and Cooling 1Kw edition with the quad SLI setup. If you plan on only 1 then get a PC P&C Silencer 750. It has 60amps on a single 12v rail and it's rated somewhere in the 83% efficiency. It is also 850W maximum but PC rates thier PSU as the minimum that a PSU will consistently give. Note: These PSU are not on the cheap side. But heat is the killer of efficiency and most higher end PSU remain truer to their rating even under high temps. Which a cheaper PSU may or may not.

Re: HD Crysis DX10 GeForce 8800 Presentation
Aspire 500w psu. thats comforting that it runs on a 520. Im gonna wait to see what ATI does later this month before i get the 8800.
As for crysis, if you like PC FPS's and beautiful graphics it IS a must buy. Im not waitin for reviews on this one i already have it pre ordered. Its gonna be SICK. No release date yet but it was Q4 of last year and they moved it up to Q1 of this year. my money is on they're waitin till Vista gets released so that it can take advantage of DX10.

^^^^^People that are broke??
Currently the R600's release date will be March so it looks like my ultimate Vista gaming rig must wait until then.RX-78-2 Gundam EFSF Protoype Close Combat Mobile Suit Armor: Luna Titanium Armament: 2x Beam Sabers, 2x 60mm Head vulcan guns 380mm Hyper bazooka, Beam Rifle, Beam Javelin, Hyper Hammer, Gundam Hammer, shield

Re: HD Crysis DX10 GeForce 8800 Presentation
i got an OCZ 700w extreme gamer PSU which is now powering my 8800 gtx BFG watercooled ed. OC'ed to 2052 mhz memory and 687(!)mhz on my core. And i still cant break 65 C on load after an hour of heavy gaming. This thing is a BEAST. Im gettin 11000+ scores on 3dmark06 easily. If the new ati cards can beat that on stock, id be impressed.
I cant wait to tear it up in Crysis.
