Re: HD Crysis DX10 GeForce 8800 Presentation
good lord thats a big file...d/ling now
EDIT - Excuse me while i wipe the drool off my keyboard...I HAVE to upgrade for this game. Hot damn thats a sexy game. Just think of the multiplayer possibilities. Sniper's heaven. Far Cry was a snipers heaven, i can just imagine with this game. the draw distance seems to go on forever. To see mountains that far away is incredible. And finally destructible environments. Good lord i cant wait for this game.

It does look pretty. I was excited about it. But really, I think the multiplayer game play is going to be crap. Who on TG wants to play what amounts to a frag-fest like Unreal Tournament or Quake 4, but with nicer graphics?

Re: HD Crysis DX10 GeForce 8800 Presentation
You know, the most impressive thing for me from that little showcase, was when he zoomed in with that reflex sight.
I'm not sure why, but that was the most realistic looking zoom/sight I've ever seen in a video game. I believe it was the use of the depth of field blur which is what happens in real life - and I've yet to see a game accurately portray. Amazing.
Well, I just upgraded yesterday to a core 2 duo 6600, but I don't even know how that will hold up to this game.

It's not a fragfest, it's an objective based team game with long scenarios.

Yea, that was amazing. They also do that in Call of Duty 3 for the 360. Its a really cool effect. Although i think it looks better implemented here.
Off topic - They recommend at least a 450 watt PSU for the new 8800. I was almost positive i was gonna have to get a new PSU, but i guess not. I just hope my 500w will be able to handle it especially OC'ed. I really dont want to swap PSU's as its a huge pain in the arse. And yes, i have enough connections.

Re: HD Crysis DX10 GeForce 8800 Presentation
Well, if the multiplayer is good I hope that all 7 of you who have a system that can run it have fun!
It certainly does look amazing.....when he was shooting that tree i was thinking about being in a squad in the jungle with all the trees around us shaking like that, gunfire everywhere.....sorta like in predator. That would be intense.
"I aint got time to bleed."

Re: HD Crysis DX10 GeForce 8800 Presentation
supposedly they are scaling it very well. But cmon, after seeing that, dont you just want to blow a months salary on a new rig?
Think about those jungle fights. Your squad lies in wait, motionless, defending an objective, just waiting for any movement....You suddenly see some bushes 50m ahead of you rustle. Is it a pig? No, you see their AKs. You let your squad know and everyone aims in the direction. At 10m your SL gives the order to open fire and you just lay waste to them and everything in between. Leaves everywhere, trees ripped apart, grenades making craters. Think of the immersion...
Of course you could play it on lower settings but i dont think youll be able to get the same immersion level. This game practically NEEDS an awesome rig. As soon as vista comes out, its dx10 time baby.

Re: HD Crysis DX10 GeForce 8800 Presentation
I do know a little about the game.
4 multiplayer modes:
1. Deathmatch
2. Tactical Deathmatch
3. Tactical capture the flag
4. Power struggle
I think we can eliminate 1-3 as being any sort of TG style play.
#4 sounds interesting, but rounds in that mode can take 10 hours. Even if a a round is only 1/3 of that trying to keep a coherent team for that long will be challenging. Not to mention that rounds that long will not be particularly rewarding to the vast majority of players since no many will play long enough to see the round from beginnng to end. So, you will be left with a lot of players who could really care less about the objectives. And thus, you are left with a frag fest. I'm not saying that TG can't make the best of this multiplayer mode, but add these facts to that reality that pub servers will be hosting one of the deathmatch modes and you have a community of deathmatch gamers.
At least in BF players are generally aware that there are objectives, squads, etc. But take Unreal Tournament as an example...it had several objective and capture the flag modes and almost no one played them.
To sum up, I am as excited about Crysis as the next guy, but am not particularly optimistic about how good the multiplayer will be.

Re: HD Crysis DX10 GeForce 8800 Presentation
personally, i dont really care about multiplayer in games. I cant stand a vast majority of people so i stick to SP. So as long as thats good, im set.
Far Cry was a "frag fest" but the levels were SOOO huge, that dying every few seconds was hardly an issue. Sure its not tactical but i can enjoy deathmatch as long as its not real small maps and too many people on it. I love TG because i love teamwork, but i can also like deathmatch. Hell, i loved HL1's deathmatch which basically got me into muliplayer games. No reason people who are a part of TG cant love both either. Of course youll have your people who are totally against it but i believe variety is the spice of life...or something like that. Anyways, with levels as big as the one they showed...youd need like 100 people to remotely fill that beast up. But, i digress, SP is where its at for me mainly.

500w can run ur system with 8800 gtx just fine. In fact I've read a review where 8800 GTX in SLI ran with 500w psu, and most was used was like 460w when running 3dmark06 test.
Check inquirer.net under graphics section, you will find the review there, if you like.
