Re: DX9 limitations in Mutiplayer

I have Vista, but can't run it because there's a problem with the Forceware drivers and the 7900GT that nVidia doesn't acknowledge, but scrambles the screen, making it unusable. Alot of people have the problem, too and it requires underclocking/overclocking to fix. I'm just not dealing with that and I hope ATI/AMD has some competitive DX10 cards out soon. I would rather not go with nVidia again, but I doubt that's going to happen until after the new year, which is too late.

Looks like I'll be getting an 8800, but I'll wait until the new nVidia releases in November.

Re: DX9 limitations in Mutiplayer

I suspect this means most servers will be DX9 because the majority of people still have XP and XP sales are still going strong.

Re: DX9 limitations in Mutiplayer

just an FYI, IGN's page was updated today, Monday.

it now includes advertising for the crysis Beta wich leads me to assume that they are releasing batch two today, one week after batch one. those who want it, you'll get your keys before me over my cold dead hands! (Wages war with TG over beta keys) not really though, just keep an eye out if you want one

That would be lame. The fact that I have to play by the lowest common denominator is lame. People need to stop holding on their old **** PC boxes.

LOL... look how damned long it took for game companies to start releasing games on DVD-ROM vs. multi-disc CD-ROM. And they still aren't releasing exclusively on DVDs. Who in their right goddamn mind doesn't have a gaming PC with a DVD drive? :P

Re: DX9 limitations in Mutiplayer

The main problem I think is that some cards doesnt have drivers for vista, or if they do then your motherboard doesnt like it and mess up your computer or something. Alteast that's the stuff I've heard, I havent look into it much closer, just heard from other gamers.
What Im saying that Vista is still on childs boots.

DX10 on vista only sucks badly btw...

Re: DX9 limitations in Mutiplayer

Now with physics in multiplayer DX10 I will finally get use of my Vista installation. I can second the feeling that vista is not worse than XP. I have one issue I cant run XFI on ultra high in BF2 thats all. All other games works great on my basic vista installation. I have installed all the fixes though.

When sp1 comes out for vista I think we are going to see much more DX10 penetration. Also the midrange graphics card for DX10 is finally coming out for DX10 in the 200 dollar range.

I believe that next years will be DX10 year and when consoles are going to be left in the dust (Graphically wise).

Do you know how pissed people were when the first game to come out DVD-only was released? I can't remember which game at the moment, but people went ape ****.
