    This is my fav. video:

Seriously though... yeah, Darkfall has relatively crappy graphics. BUT, if it achieves anything even near the level of play a game like WW2O had, but in a fantasy setting, it's automatic win. To this end, I'd sac. graphics for that kind of gameplay. Most people are basically calling Darkfall "Modern Ultima Online."

ok this game, delivers in a big way.

finally, archers are able to move and shoot, also awesome sniping done by an archer of off a tree. The rest was great, the battle between 2 large groups was great, including the cavalry and ship combat.

If their crafting is as good as what we have seen in the video so far, this game has got it made for all pvp lovers.

In regards to graphics, its a lot easier to make a graphical face lift for a game after its released, then to do anything about the core game play. ( a few mmo's proved that)

Game play 1st , graphics 2nd, this team demonstrated that.

We'll see if it comes out in 2008, however its nice to see that they have delivered this movie footage as promised (by the end of this week that is).

I thought the movie was awesome, gave some hints about a few area's i wasn't sure of. I really wanted to see more about the crafting system. Are there any videos out there of that?

Also they need to do something about walls/building when they are destroyed. I hate how they just disappear. One idea i had that i explained to one of my buddies was instead of the buildings/walls just disappearing when they get destroyed you can have rubble that the players would have to "clean up" and while cleaning up this rubble you get a small percentage of the resources it took to make it. Kinda a little prize if you win. Plus you can then use some of those resources you gathered from the rubble to help build your own settlement there if you want. I don't know was just an idea.

    which part?

graphics don't make the game, a la AoC. Game play does.

They play a part. However, I did see some better images. Apparently that video was recorded in low settings.

That's not a good idea for a promotional video.

You can always do a graphics update, you CANNOT change the core of the game.(well of course you can do anything but with severe circumstances). A lot of companies do big improvements to graphics to their games after a few years, but the core remains the same.

I wouldn't say graphics made AoC, if anything it helped bring it down since they weren't optimized.

The mechanics in aoc are what keep people playing.

Darkfall might have some good mechanics but many gamers want immersion these days and darkfall very well may fail in that department.
