I actually just took the names off the stickied Guild Membership thread in this forum (after checking to make sure they were actually registered names on the Darkfall forum.. as a side note, "Von Traegar" should actually be "Von Traeger"

).. I'm almost positive that list means very little, if anything at all. They just want to make sure we actually have people interested in joining the guild once it's established, so I just took mine and first 9 names in that thread.

From here, I think the process is something like this: we wait about 5 days for them to process the applications and register us as a guild, and than everyone interested in joining (including those on the original list of 10) goes to User CP > Group Memberships on the Darkfall Forums, finds Tactica Ludicrum on the list of guilds (keep in mind, it won't be listed until they register us), and applies to it. Than when anyone with administrative powers over the guild on the Darkfall forums approves the membership, you'll be in.

Ugh.. too tired to write coherently.. I sense an edit to this post in the future, or at least a follow-up

Interestingly enough, it still shows the registration as "open" on the Darkfall forums.. it was open for a few hours after the announced deadline last time as well, but this is quite an extension

Hmm. Well, good effort team, but I thought you had to register the guild with the Darkfall forum user names, not our TG user names (some of which might be different; over there I'm just "Tarpan")? Dunno, hope things work out okay. I'll try not to cry because I was left out.

And yea, the DF people don't seem to be real big on deadlines. Game has been in development for what, five years now? Six?

I did indeed use the names on the DF forums, and like I said, nobody's been left out, I promise

pay no attention to whether or not your name is on the list of 10.. if this registration works like past registrations did, the list of 10 names means nothing except that it shows to them we actually have members in our guild. The forum group isn't limited to 10 players, and even the players on the list will have to apply to join the forum group when it's established.

ah - well i think we will be double parked! I did submit us but didn't post here as I wasn't about much over the weekend, but yeah good call on that Vyko without the confirmation. Hopefully it'll get done twice as fast

Since Darkfall is not a 'target-cast' type of game, then wouldn't it make the most sense to have the hardest to hit character? AKA a Dwarf? Nice and short and ultimatly harder to hit?

On the complete flip is the Orks who look like they can be hit from a mile away with a random spell that missed another mob... hehe.

The Alfrars look like they could use some sleep and the Mahirim's look pretty badass, but no mount? Isn't one of the coolest features of the game is the mounted combat? Are they gonna miss out on that?

I always go for the more beastely races in MMORPGs like Horde in WoW, but I actually voted Humans, but its mainly because I'm planning on going down the Melee path for the first time in MMORPG history. ^^

Possibly, and it is good to consider this. But maybe the Mirdain will be the hardest to hit as they can move quickest?

What Gufando is getting at is that unlike many MMORPG's this game is not a select and attack style game. WoW, DAoC, NWN, and Eve-O all require you to select an enemy target, and then chose from a range of attacks. Your character will then perform the attack on the target.

DF will be more like BF2 as a FPS where you have to control the actions of your character. Thus smaller races or faster races will be more difficult to land a hit on. Mahrim may be strong and tough, but they are also a big target!

I think we should do whatever we want for the Closed Beta, try out the other races in Open Beta and then decide what to do by the time retail hits stores.

The Orks look really fat in the races pictures, but on the RPGvault screen shots they look only slightly bigger then Humans and in armour their fat gets sucked in. ^^

It's either in the FAQ, or somewhere on one of the previews. Mahirim don't need mounts, since they can run fairly fast on all fours. However, they are capable (as is everyone else) of riding any of the standard racial mounts.
