Re: Anything new?

Seriously, I saw Wulfyn's write up and I started to drool... Ya know, I just got a job so when I get my paycheck (in 2 freaking months) I'll be able to splurge... I just don't like the fact that I'd have to be a nooooooob again.

Re: Anything new?

This game is really dragging it's feet. I'm starting to look at conan and pirates of the burning sea now.

Re: Anything new?

The best place to go to is the News area of the darkfall forums. About once or twice a month we get a snippet of an update. The most useful one for this thread's request was posted a bit ago, but gives you an idea of progress.

http://df.warcry.com/news/view/72954...of-Development

The good news is that it is still in development. They were having issues finding a publisher (because this MMO breaks the established mould and market model of WoW etc), but now they are starting to test areas.

I'd still put the game as a couple of years away from release at least, but in a way I don't mind that. It seems a very ambitious project and I'd rather wait an extra year to play a good game than one rushed out just to shift units. I lament at the butchery that was performed on Warhammer Online when GW released the rights to an external developer, so I'm just happy that none of the DF ambitions have changed - after all it made me drool as well!

++ edit

incidently, vids found here: http://df.warcry.com/videos/gallery/37

Eww Warhammer online... UGH..

I hope they take the time to get it how they want it then wulfyn, sounds like they are taking the right path. Hopefully they don't run out of money though.

So is Duke Nukem Forever. :P

When I first heard of the game, I was quite excited. But their failure to release information on even a semi-regular basis, combined with their other bs ("We'd like to tell you stuff but we can't. Because of the non-disclosure agreement we signed. With ourselves. When we own the company.") made me sign off on this as vaporware. Kinda sucks, because I thought it was a neat concept and truly a TG-oriented MMO.

Re: Anything new?

Well that was my fear a few months ago when they reported issues of finding a publisher. I thought they would just run out of money and the whole project would be binned.

However their updates since then have gotten a lot better (ie monthly). The latest update was posted last week.

That they have reached any sort of testing stage is welcome news.

Re: Anything new?

At this point I'm thinking they're more likely to develop a terminal disease than to develop the game. Not sure which one would be better =P

Re: Anything new?

There's a new dev journal here. Still no solid beta information, but I like these detailed development updates quite a bit.

Re: Anything new?

To be fair, they are developing this game far faster than my last employer developed anything. Not that this should be a creditable benchmark.
