Keyboard Layout Help
Hi guys,
I'm a total noob to DoD:S. Can someone list the commands/controls that I should be able to access quickly. I heard it's possible to bind some of the specific voice menu commands to a key, what commands are most important or used often? Maybe some one could post an example cfg file? I've been reading the tweakguide to HL2 and it's helped with some stuff, but it doesn't mention specific stuff about DoD:S.
Thanks

Re: Keyboard Layout Help
voicemenu1 up to voicemenu3 for the actual menus, beyond that i'm not sure. You can do a find in the console for any command. Find voice might show something more.

Player movement, obviously: strafe l/r, forward, backward, jump, crouch, PRONE, SPRINT.

Hmmm, I'm sure that I'm forgetting some important ones, but I can't think of 'em right now... I don't use the radio commands very often. The one that I did use a lot was the "Look out, I just threw a grenade!" command.Become a supporting member!

Re: Keyboard Layout Help
I used to have DoD voice binds for the arrows keys (Using WASD for movement). It was pretty intuitive to have leftarrow bound to "squad flank left", rightarrow for "squad flank right", forward arrow for "move MG forward" and backarrow for "GRENADE!".
Something like this:
bind kp_leftarrow "voice_left"
bind kp_rightarrow "voice_right"
bind kp_uparrow "voice_moveupmg"
bind kp_downarrow "voice_grenade"
These may not work, I'll have to wait until tonight to test them. Of couse there is no substitute for using voicecomm with a microphone.
Here's a link for HL1 commands including mod-specific commands:

In general vale seems to have kept the old commands in the new source games.

Re: Keyboard Layout Help
Here's a page that I used to help me set up my key binds.
http://www.dodnetwork.com/index.php?page=key-binding
Here are the binds I have added or changed so far in my .cfg file:
bind "leftarrow" "voice_left"
bind "rightarrow" "voice_right"
bind "downarrow" "voice_hold"
bind "uparrow" "voice_enemyahead;say_team I am near %l"
bind "pgdn" "voice_negative"
bind "pgup" "voice_yessir"
bind "home" "voice_needammo;say_team I need ammo near %l"
bind "end" "voice_thanks"
bind "h" "dropammo;voice_takeammo;say_team Ammo can dropped near %l"
Also what's the reason for having a key to drop your gun? Is there any reason you'd ever actually want to drop your gun? If not I'll take it out before I drop my gun by accident.

Re: Keyboard Layout Help
If you want to pick up a weapon that is laying around, you have to drop your gun first...

The drop weapon button can be tricky, like with the wehrmacht rifleman, you don't have the ability to use the grenades anymore if you drop that rifle.

Re: Keyboard Layout Help
Actually that's not true any more. You can "use" a dead man's weapon to switch your weapons for his. Using the drop weapon bind may be faster for some, but I like the use key since I already have that conveniently bound.

Can you bind mouse buttons? I'm trying to set up my side buttons on my mouse to go prone and crouch.

Re: Keyboard Layout Help
On the Logitech mx510 the side buttons are MOUSE4 and MOUSE5 for binding purposes.
In your config file put:
bind "MOUSE4" "+duck"
bind "MOUSE5" "+alt1"
