After opening Sixupdater, in the middle of Six, you will see some tabs - Homepage-ServerBrowser-Mods-Apps-CustomRepo. Just click on the Mods tab then scroll down until you see @Dayz. If it says skip but is green then that is normal. Click on @Dayz in the mods list then right click and choose add to preset. And Hitest, you can grab anyone in the Armed Assault TS channels or go to the Need Help channel and someone will be able to help you if they have Sixupdater.

The latest update of Sixupdater has provided a Launcher for the DAYZ Mod. If when opening Sixupdater in the past day or so you have not been provided with an extra desk top icon titled Six Launcher ( it will have a rocket symbol), then uninstall Sixupdater-say no to the removal of Configuration- and retrieve the updated version- 2.9.6pre here:

When the Six Launcher appears on your desk top rename it to DAYZ Launcher. Yes, Sickboy has provided a launcher just for this mod. When opening it you will see several boxes on the left side and one will have the name SYNC in it. Wait a minute or two and this will change to Quick Play. It is a unique server browser just for the Dayz mod servers only and an easy way to launch from there. You can click Host at the top and it will alphebeticaly organized the servers.

Now Sixupdater will have the latest code as quick as possible but being an Alpha it might not be quick enough for most people. I was on last night when the server shut down to update from 1.5.8.1 to 1.5.8.2. So I had to go out of game, you can not update while game is running by the way. I checked Sixupdater and it didnot have the update yet, so I went here:

I then opened Sixupdater and went to Game Folder tab in SixUpdater and opened my @Dayz folder- opened the addons folder and placed the Dayz codes there and was able to reenter the updated server

I usually unzip files to my desktop and then copy and paste them in the game folder from there. If you are not sure where to find your game folder Sixupdater provides a quick link to the Game Folder near the top mid-left area of Six. It will have a yellow tile next to it and just under the Save tab.

This method is only necessary if while gaming the server shuts down to update. Otherwise open Sixupdater and if the Dayz Mod preset has a yellow tile in front of it you can update it. If is green it is ready to go.

after latest update for sixUpdater, I noticed that my presets disappeared. Is this something to expect at every update?

After an update of Sixupdater it sometimes ask you about changes to your configuration. It is recommended to say no to this. It will tell you near the end to say no. After resetting all presets and settings for Sixupdater always hit the save button in top panel of Home panel of Six updater. It has a blue tile to the left of it. I will try to be around later desant_1 if you need help. Until then go here and follow this guide to get you up and running.

I tried to follow your guide and that's how I installed it in the first place and ran it successfully (and saved the setup as you pointed out)

I didn't get a prompt during the update asking me to change the configurations of any sort. I created new presets as by the guide but now I am stuck at "Attempting to authenticate" screen when I load in.

Should I simply stick to launcher that was provided by the latest six updater?

Actually, both are good for Dayz launching. I like launching from the Icon thru Sixupdater because I have mine set to not only launch me into the Dayz mod but it starts up my Fraps and TrackIR also. I do launch sometimes with the Six Launcher Sickboy has provided us with just to check how it works and it's up to your preference of launching needs. Anytime you need help with this just PM me or look for me in TS.

Thanks for the help Sarge! I am now in business. In fact it appears that the shortcut made according to the procedure you pointed works better than the launcher provided by sickboy (at least for me).

The drama:
I had to go AFK today before I had a chance to disconnect and now my character is dead... (frankly, I just started and didn't get too far besides killing a few angry villagers and an opponent and getting stuck in a shack with some helicopter parts)

Just a short note- After opening the Six Launcher you can look near the left bottom and click the Options tab and inside that menu you can put a check mark in the beta box. Now the Six Launcher will auto launch your Dayz mod with the Expansion/beta automatically into any server you choose.

When using the Six Launcher go into Options (lower left of panel) and put a check mark in beta box. This will enable you to launch with Expansion/beta.
