Lightbulb Encouragement to become a Supporting Member here at TG

DayZ has brought a lot of new people to TG, and it has also brought a lot of different TG players together in one very unique title.

So where does the Supporting Membership come in?

The DayZ server costs money. Game servers are not cheap, and to keep the server running Tactical Gamer needs Supporting Memberships. Not only that, but our forums have received a lot of web traffic surrounding the title. Bandwidth is not free. To top it off, Teamspeak 3 is not free either. Everyone is welcome to enjoy what TG has to offer for free - because at the end of the day it's about the community.

    In the context of DayZ

When it comes to DayZ, there are not many obvious reasons to become a supporting member other than the costs I listed above. Many of the luxuries we've enjoyed with supporting memberships and games in the past are not really present with DayZ. There are no reserved slots. There's no supporting member kicks. There's no real flair to being a supporting member here in DayZ...

But you are helping contribute monetarily to keeping the server online. Before TG had it's own DayZ server, we were kind of hopping around from some different non-TG operated servers. Now we have a home. We're pretty fortunate in that regard - so lets keep it going with our supporting memberships.

Being a supporting member is about more than "what do I get?" It's about what are you giving? You're helping provide for the website, community, game servers, and more. None of what you see here would be possible without the contributions from the community. So don't worry about what you'll get - You're giving not only TG, but a lot of other people who visit our server and forum, a unique product - Teamwork, communication, tactics, maturity, etc etc. You'd be surprised how many people out there just have not happened upon Tactical Gamer yet. And you'd be surprised how many people, when they find TG, instantly call it home. But none of this would be possible without Supporting Memberships. If there was not a server, if there were no forums - who would know about Tactical Gamer's community members playing DayZ?

If you love DayZ, and you love playing on our server, I won't tell you what to do with your money. But I am encouraging anyone reading this to consider becoming a supporting member here at TG. Keep it going. We have an amazing title to play, and any and all contribution helps keep it running.

No one makes a profit here. Admins volunteer their time (and lots of it). The money raised through supporting memberships does nothing more than make possible the present success and future growth of Tactical Gamer.

If you frequently enjoy yourself here, be it in our forums or in our gaming servers, and you decide you'd like to help support the costs of running this place, consider purchasing a supporting membership. Beyond the satisfaction of supporting a place you enjoy, you get some very tangible benefits as well.
    * Supporting Memberships

    - reserved slots on many servers
    - email account
    - web space
    - game and patch downloads
    - special event servers
    - team forums
    - other sundry services
If you can't manage a supporting membership, you'll not be pressured about it. Come and enjoy yourself either way.
    Cheers,

Re: Encouragement to become a Supporting Member here at TG

I've been a supporting member since 2007 - this October will make 5 years.

At first, I wanted to have a secure spot on the servers. But over the years it's become much more than that. The amount friends and networking I've made through this website in the past 5 years is remarkable, and I personally can't imagine the internet now without Tactical Gamer. That almost sounded cult-like, but it's true. It's been on my bookmarks bar for over 5 years now.

Supporting memberships also open the door to In House Squads here at Tactical Gamer. Some of the closest bonds I've formed here at TG have been through various in house squads over the years. Of course money didn't buy these - it was my getting involved in the community. Supporting Memberships are a great way to further your involvement in TG.

+1. Supporting Member since 2005 (Yes, it says Sep 06 over to the left, but this isnt my original moniker here. Matter of fact, Ferris Bueller is the name that members of the TG community chose for me in a contest). Worth every penny, and not just for the perks. Greatest gaming community ever.

Also been an SM for 4+ years. Even "went platinum" for a good stretch, and for long periods of time without playing anything and using the reserved slot perk.

    I've got no regrets.

Ditto, 5 year SM now, perks are nice but knowing it keeps the lights on is what really works for me!

There is a lot going on here at TG. Apo has done a fantastic job getting servers for everyone’s particular flavor of games and managed to find exceptional admins to keep everything working. I strongly encourage everyone's financial support by becoming a supporting member.

Thumbs up Re: Encouragement to become a Supporting Member here at TG

Let's face it, DayZ is about trust.

    Who do you trust?

    1) A stranger is shot.

    2) An announced visitor is given a bite to eat, water and directions to keep moving.

    3) A TG member is welcomed as a friend, given weapons, ammo, a place to safely lay his head, and invited to team up on raiding the cities and choppers. (Also access to non-public TG forum threads)

    4) A step further, an IHS member is given all of the action of step 3, plus keys to the castle, a FULL bottle of J.D. and Coke, enough cooked meat to make Oprah jealous, top secret tent and loot locations, trucks, cars, boats, quads, and on a full moon a date with Hitest's sister!

Only way to get to 3 and 4 is to become a supporting member - plain and simple.

Do it and enjoy all the spoils TG and DayZ have to offer...!

5 Years in 14 days, I originally got it so I wouldn't get kicked from the Counterstrike server. I don't play on servers that have slots anymore, but keep paying. Served in 2 IHS (the Irregulars, and the 8th) and had a blast. Going to renew my subscription when it expires this month for another year.
My Resume includes Pirate and Mercenary, what else do you want.

Well, that's not strictly true - you can be TG tagged without a SM, you just need to abide by the rules. And The Irregulars do not require SM to be in the squad.

Now, I know I'm posting this without SM myself - I've been a paying member on and off for something like five years. Often paying when I'm not playing any TG-hosted games, only to come back to the fold after my membership lapsed. I'll get it renewed soon.

I'm waiting for the 3:00 AM infomercial video spot of becoming a TG SM. Maybe have Billy Mays as a Zombie doing the pitch. With all the revenue coming in, I'm sure TG could do it!

I've always been an SM whilst a regular on TG servers. I'm hooked on DayZ, so I just signed back on to show my support.

Re: Encouragement to become a Supporting Member here at TG

I think I should toss my two cents in as well. I've played on Tactical Gamer's Battlefield 2142 server and I wished I could get a supporting membership when I needed that reserved slot. Now that I'm older, have a job, and think back to those days, I think I should give back to the community for the fun I had back then and the fun I have now. I know it isn't cheap, and I don't necessarily need an IHS to be TG, but I feel like it's the least I could do, pay the community back.
