Typing in DayZ
How the hell am i supposed to type in DayZ? And is there anyone willing to team up gmt +2 (doesnt have to be exact same time zone)
I play Lingor Island and Chernaurus. Also this is my first post on this awesome forum!!! Those willing to team up please PM meLast edited by AlDyer; 09-01-2012 at 05:07 AM.

First and foremost, welcome to TG! Certainly glad to see that you think our forums are awesome, feel free to poke around and join in conversation anywhere!
As for your question: You actually dont type in DayZ. The developers disabled server-wide chat functions (such as side chat and global chat channels) several months back to increase the realism of the mod by forcing short range communications over direct voip. However, we do have our teamspeak server which you're more than welcome to join and I'm sure you'd find several people willing to work with you!

So there is no option for typing? Because in the left bottom corner i can see text now and then and i thought it was the text chat... Im a aware of the direct voice communication. Thanks!

The only way to type is by directional and vehicle...

Directional Von works to describe local. In game its called direct but the effect is 3d directional.

yep, i think text chat goes out to 30 meters when in direct in arma 2 but don't quote me.

I think it is the '/' key to type. As stated above, it only works in the vehicle channel and direct channel (change channels by using ',' key, I think).
