Found this article at PCGAMER and thought it looked interesting, so I DL'd the launcher and gave it a try. I was very impressed. DayZ with the new Arma3 combat system, better ingame audio, and enhanced graphics is awesome!
The official servers are just plain vanilla DayZ, but that's what I like. I suggest giving it a go.
One piece of advice, to get nice rich colors, I had to turn my brightness and gamma down. Less than 1.0. Above that, and things were too bright for me.
Keep in mind, this is a WIP and there are bugs, but I played a good two hours and have a good time.
It does look really good from watching the video. Personally, I cant see myself paying $45 bucks for A3 just to play a slightly better looking version of DayZ though (I dont play regular arma at all), when standalone is supposed to have many of the same features.
If you are not going to buy Arma3 then for sure its not for you. I wouldn't buy it for just the mod as well.
@Ghost1Bravo - It actually played very well. Much better than I expected. There is a bug where a small black box will appear and code flies though it. But it is not so bad it takes away from the game play. Other than that, and a few inventory issues, I had no problem.
On October 29th Tactical Gamer will join the rest of the gaming world for the launch of Battlefield 4. We've been going full bore behind the scenes here of late to be ready to go the moment BF4 goes...
