What classes do we need in game?
What classes are missing from our general party selection so far? What do we need to round us out?

Re: What classes do we need in game?
I'm going to be picking this game up on my way home from work tonight. I'd like to roll up a wizard, but I'm up for anything...

Re: What classes do we need in game?
Barbarian is one of the only classes we are now lacking. Most of us have multiple characters covering the entire range of options. Rincewind, create whatever class character you wish to play. We aren't sorely lacking in anything, and can always use another spell caster.
Welcome aboard!

Re: What classes do we need in game?
I was thinking new players might find a spot to fill if they weren't locked into a preconceived class already. I know we are good across the board with alts. and whatnot.
edit: I am pretty certain we could really use a Ranger that is really good with a bow/crossbow.

Re: What classes do we need in game?
I think clerics (or healers) and fighters (or tank types) are always useful, so there can never be too many of those IMHO. Rogues with good spot and disarm too, because some of those traps are pretty wicked. Is sorcerer gimped in some way? People don't seem to like them...

Re: What classes do we need in game?
i think a true ranger would be nice to have around as well .. although mongo does make good points on the cleric ,, but .. id have to say if your not used to running a cleric, be wary .. its a tough job .. the only real good one i know of is graeyg ,(from the guild and fellow friend of mine), but the only real piece of advice i can give to all is pick something you really want to play .. otherwise the purpose of this game is truley lost ..

In PnP Sorcerers had the advantage of being able to cast more spells per day than Wizards, but had access to fewer spells. In this game, with casters having "spell points" and PLENTY of access to rest shrines, scrolls, wands, etc....I haven't seen ANY advantage in playing a Sorcerer. You have access to less spells with no real advantage.
For instance a 5th level mage has access to the following spells they are able to cast:
lvl 1 2 3
1 3
2 4
3 4 2
4 4 3
5 4 3 2
While a Sorcerer has:
lvl 1 2
1 2
2 3
3 4
4 4 1
5 4 2
Plus a Wizard, as far as I am able to judge at this point, can have ALL the spells available in their Spellbook to chose from (if they scribed them from a Scroll), while a Sorcerer can opnly have what is listed above available to "memorize". So a Socerer lvl 3 has three 2nd level spells they are able to cast, while a mage at lvl 3 has four 1st AND two 2nd?!
I don't see the point.

Re: What classes do we need in game?
From the looks of things as of today, we are relatively well rounded. We basically need whatever class it is that you want to play. One of the great things with DDO so far is that there really aren't absolute must have classes, or an optimum group. If the party takes their time and is careful about what they're doing (and not pulling a group of earth elementals) they should end up on top in the end.
I haven't seen any barbarians yet, or a sorcerer that I can recall, but whatever floats your boat will be a welcome addition. I agree that a Ranger would be nice, missle support is a wonderful thing. With alternate characters, we have a pretty good mix, so don't feel like you have to make a certain class in order to get play time.
Good Hunting.

If I remember correctly Sorcerers are given an increase in spell points to make up for their lack of available spells that they can cast. The advantage to a sorcerer that I have seen would be if you really only want to cast a certain type of spell and weren't really that interested in the others. I'm thinking if you were looking to make a "nuker" from other MMOs, that this might be what you're looking for. Say you want to specialize in fire spells. You can easily get those couple spells and focus your feats and enhancements and be a walking napalm factory. A very good walking napalm factory. However, you sacrifice much of the versatility of the mage. It all depends on what you want to do.
Also, I'm not very familiar with sorcerers in general, but do they still need components for their spells? I was under the impression that they just kind of knew them or figured them out, therefore doing away with spellbooks and components and things. I could be wrong, just a thought.
