New player...
Hi fellow guildies!
I've been playing WoW for 1 year and recently bought DDO, so I have a few questions...
1 - Do we have a TG guild already in DDO?
2 - In case we do, which server is it?
3 - What classes we need?
I'm in vacation in FL, I'll be home on march 19!
Thanks,
Sacredlord.
P.S.: Sacredlord is my lvl 60 paladin in WoW

I'm hoping to try DDO eventually, but it might be a while. As soon as I do I'll look you all up.

Re: New player...
Since I'm not home yet and this information wasn't in the manual, I need to ask a noob question... We start with 8 points in all stats, however, to be i.e.: WIS 24, you only need to spend 16 of your initials 28 points or after a certain number you have to spend 2 points to upgrade 1 your initial stat? I mean, if you are already 15 and want to upgrade it to WIS 16, you need to spend 2 points and so on...
Thanks.

Hrmm. I've kind of taken this for granted but I think you are looking at 1 - to - 1 if you are customizing your character.. i.e. if you are going from 15 to 16 in STR.. thats one point out of you pool of 28.
Abilities are different.. abilities the are not typical of your character (the game lets you know what they are) are 2 for 1 in points.
I don't know if that helps you any..
You are memorizing this stuff before you even get home aren't you?

Re: New player...
I know to go from 17 to 18 in a stat it costs at least 3 points and I think 16 to 17 is maybe a 2 point cost? Maybe more, but its something like that... However, I don't think I will ever regret having a base strength of 18 (20 now) with my fighter. Keep in mind you get to spend two more points...one at level 4 and one at level 8. There is something to be said for having base 18 in your main stat (ie if I go ranger I'm probably getting 18 dex).

Re: New player...
Yeah I'm trying to memorize my future cleric's stats before I get home... lol
I was thinking about somethig "pimp" like WIS 24 before knowing that after 17 it takes 3 points...
Well, as a cleric, I'm gonna try something like:
18 WIS
14 CONS
13 INT
10 CHA
9 STR
? DEX
I've read in DDO's forum that you can easily get a +1 item to all stats in your first levels. Basically, I'll try to get the higher WIS possible without screwing my other stats... what you guys suggest for a 100% cleric (I don't wanna be a multi-class with that char).

Re: New player...
in my opinion wis and chr are the most important for a cleric, maybe followed by cons and str, then int and dex,, just my opinion

Re: New player...
wis and chr are the most important in my opinion .. then con, str, int, dex, and i havent heard of this +1 item to all stats. seems like an incredibly unlikly item to exist just for the simple fact that it would be way , way to good of an item to have, sorry for the partial repost

Re: New player...
My general formula for customizing a character is 18 in the primary stat and 16 in what I think would be the next most important, like constitution for a fighter. Then I use the remaining points to balance out the stats...I think that leaves you with 2 scores of 8 though depending on what race you are. So my fighter is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, nor the prettiest Dwarf on the block, but whoe yeh who feel the bite of his axe. Charisma helps with the fighters intimidate skill, but I dump all my skill points in intimidate anyway so it really doesn't matter that my Charisma is 8. On the other hand, I have a bard with 16 dex and 16 charisma and the other stats balanced. There is also nothing wrong with the preset stats when you opt not to customize. In short, you would have to do something really wacky to mess up a character...like maybe a fighter with 18 wisdom or something. Just my thoughts on it...
Oh yeah...IMHO anything below 10 strength is kind of harsh because you cant carry much, maybe for a caster though. I agree with Joeyjoejoe as to the order of stat importance on the cleric.

Re: New player...
One thing you might think about is starting with your stats ODD, like WIS 15, etc. I'm only lvl 2.5 right now and it's pretty easy to find +1 items, like cloak of charisma, +1 wis skullcaps, etc.
For ME, as an Adamantine Warforged Barbarian-cleric these things helped a lot. Because I had to spread my points across 2 disciplines. I've got 15 WIS and 15 STR, as well as 11 CHA for my intimidate and turn undeads. With my CHA cloak my CHA goes to 12 givin me an extra turn, etc. My VICE is DEX, which is 8. INT stays at 10 for skill points and CON 10 also.
Still a bit well-rounded, but I couldnt think of a better way to do it. My Adamantine armor makes up for my low CON. My clerical debuffs and midline CHA help me weaken my foes before I use my STR on them... which further gets enhanced by being a Barbarian (rage, barbarian action boosts, etc.) It's a pain in the BUTT tryin to manage all the stuff (I've got 4 full toolbars right now), but if u think fast enough you can really lay down some cool play.

Re: New player...
As someone whose main character is a cleric, I can recommend having a 17 or 18 in wisdom, as it helps keep your targets from resisting your spell. An 18 is even better, but I find that keeping the other stats low isn't worth the trade off. If you want to be an undead master kind of cleric, then put a good bit into charisma. I like strength and constitution after that, only because I like to be able to swing my mace if I have to (and sometimes there's no choice). I am by no means a tank, but in minor scuffles it's nice to crack a few skulls. If you're more of a hang back cleric, maybe some dex to help with your ranged attack. As it stands now, I can't hit the broadside of a barn with my crossbow and wished I could. It all boils down to how you want to play your cleric, there's no definitive way that's better or worse.
With your scores below, I don't think I'd put the points into Int if you're not going to multiclass. There aren't that many skills for cleric, unless you want to put a lot into spot, search and listen and help out the rogues. The seven dex is a little harsh too. I think Dex is the stat for balance, which helps you keep your feet if someone is trying to knock you down, which happens more often than anyone would like.
Although, like a said above, there's no definitive way to play, so try it out and have fun with it. If it works for you, then run with it, man.

Re: New player...
Thanks a lot guys! Yeah, my initial thoughts of getting a good stat in INT was considering the number of priest skills available. However, if there aren't so many skills CHA definately should be my 2nd best stat.
I'm considering to roll a "weak" priest (STR no higher than 10) but a strong caster...
Once more, thanks for all the tips!
