    Improved AI

Last night, Loris and I (as Philip) delved into the Sunken Sewer (I think that was it, it's the one right outside the Rusty Nail) in the Marketplace. We did it on hard, which made it a level three. We did fairly well, as this was our second attempt and new a little more of what to expect and what spells would help the most. We did discover the improved AI, and were impressed with the improvements. I charmed what creatures I could to act as our melee power, and Loris and I rained crossbow bolts into the enemy. We found out pretty quickly that the enemy took cover from our bolts and would shoot at us, then duck for cover from the return volley. They also didn't just keep throwing stuff at us if we were out of range. Though it made the quest a bit more difficult, it certainly made it more fun and a bit more like pen and paper D&D.

Just thought I'd pass that along so everyone knows that though still not comparable with another person, the AI is a good deal smarter than it was. If that quest was representative of all the quests, we'll definitely need to be on our toes.

    Good Hunting!

ya know, since the patch ive noticed more enemies just dancing around my character instead of attacking that before. maybe the patch notes just made me look for it, or maybe i just have that high of a diplomacy skill

Diplomacy isn't used automatically. Were you hitting the icon?

    Re: Improved AI

Reading the DDO forums, the AI pathing in some areas is worse than others. The take cover aspect was improved, whereas the 'run by the fighter and attack the casters' apparently was not. Though you still can't call the AI intelligent, in my experience with ranged attacking it is slightly brighter than it was. On the other hand, I saw it chase Rori around in a circle last night while I shot the enemy with magic missle. Was a bit disappointed with it in that situation. So, again, definitely not intelligent, but better than it was.

It seems they've also done away with the curse/blindness from the Hard setting where there's shamans. After being whooped by the replacement spells, I wish everyone who told turbine they wouldn't do hard quests with kobolds becuause of curse would have kept their mouths shut. I won't ruin the surprise for anyone, but be prepared for some rough times vs. shamans.

    Ruh roh..

Sounds dandy. Imagined or not, the AI does seem a little better.. a welcome change.
