    Walking?

alright so i downloaded the free trial of the game, because once i found out TG was in an MMO i just had to try it out. once i download it i make my character and begin my new fighter in the world. however, once i get there i realize something is awefully wrong. when i walk (on low graphics setting) i lag. it is like every stride i glide a bit and studder. I play EQ2 on medium (far better graphics) and i dont lag at all, what could cause this delema? please help because i am dying to get in and game with some of you fellows.

    Heya Fear!

Need alittle more info m'friend.. system specs would be a good start. Unfortunatly, comparing to EQ2 doesn't help.. just not the same animal.. they both have hearts, lungs and a circulatory system.. but they are different animals; in some configurations, D&DO can kill/bog down my systems with X1900XTX's, Dual core, X-Fi Fatal1ty, yadda.. yadda..

You might try using the "detect optimal settings" under the options. This puts mine at one level below the highest video settings, with a Radeon 9800 (512mb) card. Also, you might check if there is a difference in the stutter when you are in a "public" place like stormreach vs. inside a dungeon instance. If there is it could be your internet connection or just the game itself, as it can lag sometimes in crowded areas.

Heya Fearful - yeah - What Mongo said. Your specs are plenty good for D&DO. I run D&DO on a laptop with only a little bit higher specs on very high settings / maxed out. Get back to us with the locations that you have the issue, also check your internet throughput using a broadband speed test like at Speakeasy.

Certainly sounds like the usual public-space lag, compounded. I know I experience what I describe st 'stutter' when the server is full - but not in the instances (or dungeons).

    Re: Walking?

Fearful - I have found that different servers have differing amounts of lag. The Thrashk (sp?) server that we are on isn't too bad, except maybe at peak hours. I notice lag probably less than other folks do - I just deal with it when it's not in a dungeon. Some of the other more populated servers I've noticed a significant increase, though. If you happen to be on a different server, you may want to make a character on Tharask. That way you'll be able to adventure with all of us. If you are already on that server and this message is unhelpful, I apologize. I'm not all that tech saavy, so I tend to think of the simple things...
Hope to see you in game sometime soon.

    Re: Walking?

In my brief few hours in the demo, I had the same problem, even with all graphics turned down to minimal. Anyplace where I could see a horizon produced horrible stutter and rubber-banding. It was clearly a problem with the rendering engine, but I never figured it out. Anyway, the game failed horribly to interest me in any way, so no great loss.

It's still my favorite mmo. Sorry to hear the trial players are having so many lag issues.
