Post TacticalGamer Clans

I'm at school and I got really bored and thought, "Are there any TG clans?". Are there? Is it even possible?

Re: TacticalGamer Clans

Technically yes, if you look at the Battlefield 2 and Natural Selection community you will see a great number of in-house clans. These clans are not meant to combat eachother though. The real point of a TG-Community-Clan is to bring a bunch of individuals together to improve their ability to function as a team by compressing them into a cohesive unit. By no means to these clans on TG exclude anyone from working with them, everyone is obliged to allow anyone else to work with them on strategy.

I should also point out that Dystopia is not Battlefield 2, we play with 10 players on a side as opposed to 32. In-house clans are not really needed for Dystopia, but smaller servers like NS have still managed to form various gropus. However what I would say is needed more than anything else are individual specialists for various classes.

A "Clan" in Dystopia should form based on what class you are. Even still, you are not alone and must work with the other medium and heavy "Clans" to achieve your objectives.

That is what I believe is ideal anyway, hope this answers your question.

Re: TacticalGamer Clans

Zeph, I believe what you are talking about would be better refered to as squads or cliques. The way I interpret the word clan, in terms of computer gaming, is a group of players who play together competetivly in leagues and tournaments.

While there have been a number of in house teams (look at the battlefield 2 forums), I dont think TG has ever had any official clans. There have been clans formed by TG members (in other games, not Dystopia), but there is no connection between the two beyond the overlap in membership.

Re: TacticalGamer Clans

I agree with Zephyr and think we should just try and organize people here by what class they use and encourage different strategies with other classes. For example, im usually a Medium with an MK-808, so i usually stay back and snipe, so we could try to put together a different mix of lights and heavies and find out how we can all best work together.

Sorry if that didnt make sense, its late and im typing left handed.

Re: TacticalGamer Clans

Personally I like the setup how it is. As a community rather than a clan it gives both the members and non-members a more secure feeling rather than thinking you are playing on someones "clan" server. I also think it makes for a much smoother interaction between users (both members and non). Now on the other hand putting together people who are of different normal classes and such would make the team play much easier, or less painful as the case may be, but I find one of the more enjoying things about Dystopia is the differnet classes and their use. I can say that in any given gaming session I have been each class at one point on another as needed where these groups of people would be of more use in a tournament type situation. Now dont get me wrong, if someone wants to get a group together to practice and tournament play then I am all for it but like some of you other guys said it is separate from the community and IMO I think that is a good thing.

RambleRambleRamble, typing before sleep tends to become long winded.

This is pretty much sums it up, I think. TG has sponsored teams to represent our community in outside tournaments, and we've got many squads in different games that play against each other and join to compete against outside clans, and many members from competitive clans call TG home, but there is no single "TG clan". As Zephyr so succinctly put it: We are no clan. We are TacticalGamer.

That said, any clan that enjoys our style of play is welcome at TG and that clan's members will be welcomed the same as any other TG member.
