Scrims and Matches

Hey guys... what do you think about pick up scrims against other communities or clans? I have heard some interest about it from a few players and wanted to get everyone's opinion. I know that we keep saying we all want to do these great things and they fall through.

Bottom line: we need some better communication (kind of a tg staple, ya know) from everyone... including when they are available. Once we have an idea of who's interested and when you are available, we can look into making ourselves more available to those who are looking for some action.

The TG dystopia community has somewhat been hidden in a cave for a while and it's about time we come out and shared our awesome skills and love for the game. Some of this is due to busy schedules, some is due to new servers on dystopia, some is due to sheer laziness... so, who's with me? It's time to revive this community and become the tight knit group we once were... there are several of us that do not want to see this fall to the wayside. It can't. We are involved with the best HL2 mod out there.

Thanks for your time and dedication.

Re: Scrims and Matches

There was very little interest in an in-house tourny, so I'd be surprised (though I'd welcome it) if this succeeds.

I think we're better off getting the standards right on our server first. I've played on it plenty of times, but never experienced anything resembling a TG experience.

Re: Scrims and Matches

I think scrims and matches are a great way for us to get a sense of what we need our public server to BE like. If any organized matches can be brought into reality I think that's probably the best thing we could do for the TGDys community as of now.

What we need to brainstorm is How does one play Dystopia tactically?

The biggest problem that I've always seen with Dystopia is that, since it has teamwork somewhat built into objectives, it is even harder to distinguish the fragmonkey from the TGer because they may both appear to be doing what is right at some moments.

Nevertheless I still think the ideal thing to do right now is to reflect on the Tactics we've seen used and what appears to work .

Re: Scrims and Matches

So... do we just set a date and go from there? And hopefully, more show-up as we spread the word!? Because I think if it's going to happen, we will need to set a date and if 3 people show up, so be it. It's a start, at least.

Three people who learn to play Dystopia tactically can be an inspiration to everyone else. Some people have to have a brainstorm session or else nothing will ever be achieved. I for one welcome a Root-Chewy-Zephyr uber-ninja light force power ranger unit. I call pink erm I mean red! I meant red!

Fine. You be pink, I'll be bad-ass black, and chewy can be some other girly color.

If you're suggesting a stacked team as a tool to educate, I'm in.

Re: Scrims and Matches

A few nights ago, a clan expressed some interest in scrimmaging against us, if anyone recalls their name, I think we should take them up on the offer. I think they were called EUV or something.

Re: Scrims and Matches

Well, I count seven people who have expressed interest in this thread alone, and a total of ten people interested, looks like this could easily work out.
So far people interested (from both threads) are:
TheFeniX
CubicVirtuoso
Me (Named)
Chewy
Root
Zephyr (I think)
DOA
ViolentSquirrel (Through Fenix)
Blackwhitehawk
medwards (picky picky)
Kamer

Re: Scrims and Matches

Well when you go into a match make sure you put your own variation of DYF in your name. No two names should be alike. Possibilities include.

DyF
dYF
DYf
dyF
DYf
*DYF*
(?DYF?)
bunnyrabbitDYFbunnyrabbit
???DYF???

Remember, we must look like a completely disfunctional clan. Because at heart that is what we are, just a bunch of TG folks masquerading as clan players.

Dysfunctional Junctional Whats Your Conjunctional?!
