Suggestion for Server

Hey all I have a simple suggestion for the server. I know you guys use the same admin tool as the DOD:S Server I help with so I know this is possible.

Here is the suggestion:

At the end of round two 5 mins before the end of the round maybe have a vote for next map. I found this to be very cool since server majority in my opinion always rules. Basically it would just list 5 random maps... you would have to omit the extend option due to the way dystopia works and I think extend would break the timelimit for the round.... Either way users can hit the corresponding number to vote for which map they want, then when everyone has voted or a set number of mins later the next map will be revealed. I think thats a better idea than having a random map rotation.

If the admins need help setting this up I can help out. Just a suggestion.

Re: Suggestion for Server

We don't have a random rotation. It's fixed.

Enabling the random vote option might be worth looking into.

Re: Suggestion for Server

Oh well then it still gets bland with just a mapcycle rotation :S, but thanks for looking into it.

Re: Suggestion for Server

It is a good idea and we will definately look into it. We do like the players to be able to play the maps they want, within reason. We will update you when we have discussed the options.

Re: Suggestion for Server

There is a little known voting system built into Dystopia... it currently requires entering console commands, but I believe the next version will have a menu built in.

To start a vote, type the following in the console:
callvote map <map_name>

I cant recall the command to vote for or against, but I believe they can be bound in the keyboard options.

Oh crap! I rebound my yes/no keys last week to something more useful because no one uses this!

Re: Suggestion for Server

Additionally, I believe votemap is enabled with the admin plugin. As its currently configured, it does not start votes automatically, votes must be started by saying votemap.

Re: Suggestion for Server

votemap definitely works. It's just hard for maps to win a vote because with votemap the entire selection is available and a surprising number of people never enable console.
