What are the advantages/disadvantages of being this class?

How many of this class should a team have at any given time?

What is their ideal role in offensive situations?

What is their ideal role in defensive situations?

What implant + weapon combinations are ideal for this class?

How can this class interact with teammates of the same class?

How can this class interact with teammates of a different class?

    Re: Heavy Class Strategy

On defense, I often find myself doing well as a Heavy with Ion, SWT, and the battery thingy.

I stay back near the objective and keep my eye on a door and wait for someone to push trough our forward defenses. I occationally glance around and see if I spot any red triangles and relay that info to my team.

The Ion cannon paired with SWT is excellent for killing (non-silenced) stealths. At close range lights often only take one hit with the Ion and from a distance they can be killed with a few shots from the machine pistol after a well place Ion blast.

For close range defense, I love the chaingun +swt and sound suppressing. Camp a corner/doorway with swt, as they close in, turn on silence and rev up your chaingun. They drop with such poetic beauty and speed.

For attacking, I go with the insta-gib of the Rocket Launcher or the Ion "awp" Cannon. Generally, if you hit the first shots with these weapons you either kill them, or damage them enough to finish them off with the automatic pistol. Be sure to sprint with leg boosters and wallstrafe whenever possible to make up for your slow speed.

Also, if a light or medium is charging you with a katana, punching them once in the head with the fatman fist is usually a kill. Aim it well.

Basically the same thing, but I'll say it anyway.

On Fortress, when Jake and I are corps, we always rush the firewall building and go into the small room containing the firewall.
He's a heavy with Ion and just stares at the door waiting for it to open. As soon as it opens - sometimes this is a problem with FF on - he fires his Ion cannon. Point blank like that it almost always kills whatever he sees, as most lights who cloaked die in one hit, and most heavies and mediums took a lot of damage on the way over. I stay behind him as a light with a shotgun and thermal vision, and anything he misses, I blow away with secondary fire. We held the firewall for 10 minutes earlier today using this.
