anyone know if punkbuster will detect this as an unallowed modification to the game?

fraps is punkbuster friendly so you can film wihtout getting kicked by pb

growler cam also has an pb update that makes it pb friendly (at least with 2142 but I didnt try it with ETQW)

neither of these programs are hardware firendly , they eat FPS, you may have to drop your screen res or settings dramatically. Also note that if you are recording at 30 FPS, then fraps lowers the frame rate of the game to that while recording. 30 FPS still makes the game very playable and looks good on vid too

free version of growler cam has no time limit but put its name in the first frames of the movie, but they can be edited out
windows movie maker that is standard with XP is reasonably good for editing and steaightforward to learn quickly

You can olso use the ingame record demo, but I dont know how much of it you could use for editing

the in game demo works well enough
it does not record VOIP though (pretty certain of that)
you would still need to replay it and record fraps to then edit and publish
what you can do is play on high settings then lower settings for fraps recording of the playback
