Re: Get your ETQW newbie questions answered here !
The other day I saw a small robot flying over an anti-personel turrent and it had like an electric cord going to the deployable. I put my gunsights on it and its a repair drone. How can I get & deploy this repair drone, is it a xp unlock ?

Yes, it is an xp unlock. It's the second unlock for Constructors. When you unlock it, a lock-on reticle will appear when you point at a damaged deployable or vehicle you're close to, just like with the rocket launcher and obliterator. When you right-click after it's locked on, the drone will fly to the target and repair it at the same speed you'd normally repair it, and you're free to do something else. The drone will return to you once it's finished or destroyed.

Did you know that with the plasma mortar, you can lock onto vehicles and deployables?
When you can't run, you walk. When you can't walk, you crawl and when you can't do that, you get someone to carry you.

The Plasma Mortar does not track infantry, its primary role is Anti-Vehicle, but of course that is not what it is limited to doing. If what you say is correct, then the Oppressor was using his Targeting Tool to retarget the Mortar as it was firing. This is useful when targeting vehicles, as the vehicle which is locked-on-to will die within the first couple hits, leaving the rest of the barrage wasted. By continually lazing, you can adjust the Mortar's fire while it is shooting and the rounds are in the air. This also holds true for the GDF Rocket Battery.

To add to what IMI said, the mortar is extremely versatile if you can get to a safe position with a good line of sight to your target area. I usually use it to lock onto a vehicle or deployble, then re target it once the target's destroyed. It's easy to track infantry and moving vehicles with. While rocket artillery can also be retargeted, it's not nearly as effective since the volley is launched very quickly. The mortar barrage in contrast, is slow and lasts a long time. You can be targeting for nearly half of the recharge time. Note that you cannot lock onto a second target after destroying the first, but that doesn't mean you can't hit it manually.

Leesburg, school at NVCC.
Also remember that the Strogg Rail Howitzer's rounds are highly visible, whereas the GDF Artillery Gun's rounds are usually not seen until they start landing, then you can see the trails, very similar to BF2 artillery. This is important in the respect that GDF arty can be used without the enemy knowing it is coming, while a good player can estimate the Rail Howitzer's probable target coordinates and alert his team.playing off the TG server feels like we're playing 2142 on easy mode~Fehmart

Re: Get your ETQW newbie questions answered here !
Was mucking around on an empty server the other day and actually took the time to look through most of the upgrades. Has anyone actually managed to get far enough in a single class to call in a vehicle? If anyone has how do you go about calling in one anyway?

Re: Get your ETQW newbie questions answered here !
It happened to me once or twice. to call a vehicle (husky for gdf and icarus for strogg) just pop out the commo rose (default 'v' key) then press '9'

Re: Get your ETQW newbie questions answered here !
vehicle drops are actually easy to get.
it's the first level upgrade for vehicles, so if you spend any time in a tank chances are you'll get the unlock pretty quick.
it really doesn't depend on what class you are.

Yep, just get a bunch of points in a vehicle and you'll have that drop for the rest of the campaign. It's a good one to get early on, say the first map, because you'll have it the rest of the time, even on maps with no vehicles like Volcano, where no one on the GDF thinks they'll have to deal with an Icarus.

Re: Get your ETQW newbie questions answered here !
Time for another question. I know you are meant spot enemy armor/deployables etc with the comma rose and clicking on the center option, but whenever I try to spot it says to 'Attack Target'. Is there something I'm missing? Do I need to enable an option thingy? Or am I just using the wrong command options.
Thanks in advance
