Generally it is less of an issue with vehicles, as they are much larger targets.
the game is mostly hitscan. bullets have instant velocity. but you dont have to worry about lag since the game has antilag code which makes things work seamlessly to you. you dont lead targets at all in this game. however the antilag code does not apply to vehicles. this is part of what makes an iccurus so hard to hit. you have to lead it!!!!

Was thinking we could keep this thread for stuff we want to share, and the other thread for questions and thier answers.

I was wondering what was up with the Icarus.

BTW is it just me or have a large amount of skilled Icarus users made their way to our server as of late?

Good find. I hate dealing with icaruses. They're mostly harmless except for when spamming objectives with stroybombs, but they can be really annoying. I have a very difficult time taking them down with any weapon. The most effective way to kill them is with the minigun on the Titan and Bumblebee.

when you see a dead gdf body as strogg, you can select it as a target. this will alert make a mission for a tech and tell them that there is a body to make a spawn host in. this can really cut down on VOIP chatter. They when I am not playing tech, I do this when I kill someone.

Use cooked grenades on the Icarus. (I tend to hold my grenades halfway through the arming timer to reduce the ability of enemies to evade them.)

Calling targets with the rose, including dead GDF for spawn hosts, really helps teammates find the stuff that needs doing (like engineers looking for stuff to fix).

I found out thet the only time an Icarus is shot down is when I am using it....

Re: Stuff i learned about ETQW today.

I also have great luck using the Rocket launcher to take them down. Locking on to them of course.

The COV ops 3rd eye works as a radar. never knew that... so you can put one up locally inside a small area. for the endpoint of most maps, that would be critical.

Re: Stuff i learned about ETQW today.

3rd also works as a camera, and a remote mine, I usually use it in areas where the radar won't reach, or if I feel like camping out the forward spawn of the strogg. Place it in a not-so-noticable area, watch the mini-map and as soon as you see a strogg come close enough detonate it. Another use is for taking a look into fire intensive areas, just throw it around the corner fall back a bit and switch to camera mode to take a look at the enemy positions in the area.

One thing I learned is to not put the rocket artillery anywhere near trees or rock outcrops, the rockets will just smash into them. This is only if you're locking on to a target, rockets fly straight up if you're targeting the ground.

It's amazing how many people don't know that every vehicle (including Icarus and Huskey) has flares. I've gotten good at hitting the 1 button when I hear the lock-on tone.

Re: Stuff i learned about ETQW today.

If you are an engineer and happen across any enemy deployables you can plant your mines on it and throw a grenade at it. The mines will detonate doing addition damage. Not sure how much exactly but my brother says that 2 mines + a grenade will get all deployables dropped to Disabled status.

Another one which I'm not quite sure of. Was playing covert ops and was continuously sneaking past enemy lines to hack radars, artillery etc, once I found a radar disabled through damage, so I placed a 3rd eye on it and hid nearby. I watched as someone repaired it and once I saw that it was no longer disabled I blew it up and it destroyed the whole radar. Will do more experiments to see just how powerful the explosion is.

Oh and one more thing, the 3rd has a finite range, meaning you can't access camera mode or detonate it if you're too far away, the radar function will still work though. Need to test what the distance really is, but I think it's fairly large.

Re: Stuff i learned about ETQW today.

i don't know how powerful the 3rd is, but i tested that it can totally blow up an anansi (same as tormentor i think) and takes down to half health a tank. the range is not very large. on canyon map for example, i placed a 3rd on the bumblebee and i couldn't see anything from out of the GDF base. but i don't know if you can blow it up even if the signal is at 0% or nearly

a question: is there a way to bind a key that's already bound when you are on foot, so that you can obtain a different use when you are on a vehicle?

Sure. http://4newbies.planetwolfenstein.ga...ng.php#context

bind "KEY" "COMMAND" "" "vehicle"

Some useful vehicle binds I use are using capslock as "_speed" for using the air brake in fliers, and space as flare ("_weapon0") since it's a good button to smash in a hurry.

Re: Stuff i learned about ETQW today.

I have yet to figure out bindings. but I know it is an extensively programmable system. with multilayer toggles, conditional binds etc...such. you can have binds that will /kill you and respawn you with the class and loadout of your choice, all to a 2 conditional keystrokes. if anyone knows the system feel free to share some knowledge.
