Scrimmage
Sunday Jan 27th at 2:30 pm EST

TacticalGamer will be holding an internal scrimmage Sunday Jan 27th at 2:30 pm EST. This scrimmage will be open to all TacticalGamer community members. Supporting and TG tagged members will be given preference if it fills up.

The scrimmage will be a stopwatch match on island followed by a stopwatch match on valley.

The entire event should last about and hour and a half.

What is Stopwatch?
Stopwatch is the default competition game type. Victory in Stopwatch is determined by which team completes a map's objectives the quickest. It is played as a two instances of the same map and is known as an AB round. This way, both teams get to attack under the exact same circumstances and the speed of completion indicates the better team.

In the A half, the attacker tries to complete the map objectives and set a time. In the B half, the teams switch sides so the original attacker is now the defender. The new attacker tries to complete the map objectives in less time and if successful, is credited with the win. Matches typically run 3-5 rounds.

Because victory in Stopwatch is determined by who can complete the map the quickest, you may notice that maps play differently than in Objective or Campaign. Defender spawn and vehicle respawn times could be changed to make the map more offensively biased.

We will need 2 team captains who will organize their respective teams and help develop tactics. The entire team can get involved in the planning or it could just be the captain and a few trusted friends. Teams will be granted access to private team forums to discuss tactics and strategy. Teams will be put together as fairly as possible from the players that sign up.

I will set the rosters when we get enough to sign up. This will take place on our private server. If teams would like to schedule practice on the private server that can be easily arranged.

Why is the date so far ahead? I don't see why we couldn't do this regularly.

There are many factors that went into determining the date. Normally scrims probably won't be anounced this far in advance but becuase this is our first scrim we want to make sure we get maximum exposure for this. Whether or not this will become a regular thing will be determined by how succesful this scrim goes.

Part of the reason this is so far ahead is that I did not want this to conflict with the NFL playoffs and I wanted the time to be euro friendly and USA friendly. That means it has to be midday for east coast USA people. This means it has to be a weekend and the playoffs are on the weekends. I put this on the bye weekend that is between the conference championships and the superbowl.

That being said it gives us a chance to pull this off right by putting in the proper planning.

Why not a strogg attack map instead of valley?
Ark,salvage and area 22 are really good maps for stopwatch games mostly because of the indoor final objective.
Valley is a nice map, but if you set the defence right it will be a full hold on the 2nd objective most off the times..(if there aren't any restriction regarding turrets and heavy vehicles in place).
Haveing both strogg and GDF attack will show more of this games potential and would require more tactics then just one side attack IMHO.

good points. I was including valley due to popular demand. I would have prefered salvage as well. Do keep in mind that we will be doing this often perhaps as frequently as weekly.

I would like to participate but not sure if my timezone will allow me. I'm guessing EST time is GMT - 5 right? That's about 15 hours behind my time making it oh...5:30am Monday morning... -_-; . Other wise if my thinking is wrong then I'm more then up for it. I'm in a GMT + 10 timezone so if someone would be willing to translate what EST is in GMT terms I'll see if I can come along. And just in case...
