Re: Beta Discussion
Wow, what a huge mistake not including VOIP. As much as I have enjoyed playing the beta so far, I don't see this as being something that will keep my interest without the VOIP.

Re: Beta Discussion
very nice game...a lot better than i expected. there is a bit of a learning curve trying to figure out what the classes do, etc. It looks really nice and runs really smoothly which is also a big plus. Im trying to figure out how to spot things and call for medic, ammo, etc. Lack of voip is definately a big no no, but things move really fast and im not sure how much of a help it would be anyways. Oh well...at least i enjoyed it.
If i play a beta and i dont immediately delete it from my comp, then its a damn good game.

Re: Beta Discussion
Lack of voip definitely my biggest complaint. I'm playing only the constructor class, kicking ass and taking names.

Re: Beta Discussion
I played wolf ET for a long time. if it is anything like that, or even inspired by it, then you can expect bunny hopping and trick jumping to be very much an intentional part of the game. Shooting while flying through the air was par for the course in that game. I dont know how TG will handle that aspect of it. I know we strive for near simulation, but these futuristic games make it difficult to apply the primer at times.
Hopefully i can score a beta key sometime.

Re: Beta Discussion
I'd describe the game as a tactical-death-match. There are elements of tactical gameplay with the fast paced play of a death match. If you like tactical play and deathmatch this might be your game.
If you want a "near simulation" Armed Assault, Project Reality Mod game play environment, this ain't for you.
TG has a wide variety of game tastes so I'm sure it will find a home here.
After playing a few rounds again last night with some TG compatriots on TS some thoughts.
Good:
-Sharp impressive graphics, the draw distances are top notch. I can see opponents and make out detail from half-way across the map.
-Not your ordinary, death-match game. Adds a combination of DM and Tactical play which is something I have not seen.
-Objective based and must rely on teamplay to win.
-Nice variety of vehicles. Strogg jump pack is way fun.
-Classes and weapons seem pretty well balanced.
-Placement of arty, missles, etc could add alot of strategic possibilites.
Cons
-Vehicles, especially tank feel light, think someone mentioned that before.
-Sound effects, especially vehicles need to reflect what you are operating. ATV sounds like a moped and the tank no better. Some of the weaposn did not sound any better.
-No Voip, but that may come later it appears.
-My be too fast for some tastes.
I'll be more curious to play the demo as it will give a better feel of the final game. So we will see.|TG-9th| TheFatKidDeath

Is a server binary available? Linux preferably.

Re: Beta Discussion
nope, it would be nice to have a TG server, but the feedback they get from the beta would be limited if people were playing on servers outside of their control.
