Quake wars gunship???

Is it just me or is the gunship very sluggish and non responsive??? it takes for ever for in between missle shots? I don't see it really being an asset...and if you get locked on by someone your toast....no counter measures are available....that thing needs to be reworked in my opininon.

Gunship? That's not very descriptive so I have no idea what vehicle you may be referring to much less which faction. As for counter-measures, the vehicle guide will help you out.

theres also an option to use advanced flight controls....i have no idea what they are but i assume it takes a bit more skill to use. the 1 key is flares.

Re: Quake wars gunship???

It's called the Anansi. I haven't flown it much but it seems very similar to the gunship in 2142.

In regard to the Advanced Flight Controls.

http://4newbies.planetwolfenstein.ga...W/vehicles.php

The base controls are "newbie" friendly, they make it very difficult to roll the ship, especially during take off. Who doesn't have horror stories of jumping in a BH on Wake in BF2 only to have the pilot flip off the back of the carrier? Anyway, if you let go of the conrols, the ship is supposed to auto level also. They figure as people gain more skill, they'll take off the "training wheels." For those of us who are just plain bad pilots, it lets them (me) fly the transport chopper across the map without TKing my whole squad in the process.

Re: Quake wars gunship???

the only reason i've still been playing quake wars over the past month or so is to fly the tormentor.

and of course, at first, it seems slow / weak / easy to shoot down, but that's mainly because you don't know what you're doing.

-The missiles take to long to reload? try changing to your other missiles while the one you just shot off is reloading. you have two types. the strong one that takes awhile to reload, and the smaller ones that take a very short time to reload.

-Getting shot down too much? It's probably because you are giving them a stationary target.
When I started flying, this infuriated me as well. It seemed there was no way to avoid getting shot down because the lock on warning comes up so late. But, if you keep moving, it's is much harder to get a lock on, and much easier to get away after a missile is fired at you.
What I mean is, don't hover and try to pivot around and shoot people, you have to dive in, shoot a couple missiles, and dive out.
Incredibly hard to do at first, but if you keep practicing you'll get there eventually.

Another thing that helps is using a controller. I hooked up my ps2 controller, and not only is it a lot more fun, but i fly loads better.
and if you don't have a controller, you need to up your sensitivity in the choppers to like 14.

So yeah, like anything, practice makes perfect.
At first flying is an incredibly frustrating experience, but once you more or less 'master' it, it's incredibly fun.

*edit*
and as far as it being an asset, unless the GDF really know what they're doing, often times i can pretty much single handedly stop the mcp from ever reaching the objective.

Yeah, the controls are a bitch at first, especially for me because I'm not used to flying with the keyboard. It seems counter-intuitive sometimes, but I guess it just takes practice. And bobjones, you should probably hope I don't play GDF and decide to go soldier, because I will shoot your ass down again and again with my rocket launcher. That's my commitment.
