Wake Up!
ETQW is being released in a few days. Where are we as a community with support for this game? I know lots played the demo and the beta and are burned on valley. We have a demo server that idles empty most of the time. Will we have a regular server soon after release? I am really looking forward to this game, after playing the demo, I think it has great TG potential. I will be getting it as soon as my local store has it in stock.

Re: Wake Up!
I've been playing the demo quite a bit, and really hope for a TG server as well, I believe once the actual game comes out, it won't be hard to keep a server full like the BF2142 one. does anyone know if the game will support reserved slots as in BF2142? thanks!

Re: Wake Up!
Quake Wars had some excellent ideas for the level design and for unique gameplay balance and toys.
But at the core everything is pressed into one aweful engine. People are Slide-Moving around and their animations make no sense. IŽll be staying far from QuakeWars for now. |

Re: Wake Up!
Gameplay moves too fast for my tastes. Leaves me no sense of tension or motivation to fulfill the objectives knowing I'm going to spawn, die 20 seconds later, respawn, die 20 seconds later, rinse, repeat, ad infinitum.
It's a Quake deathmatch with a sense of purpose in the accomplishment of various objectives. Not my cup of tea. Sorry, guys. |

Re: Wake Up!
I keep reading comments from people that this game is a “fragfest” or a “deathmatch”. This game is what the people on the server make it. It can be complex and require lots of tactics and teamwork. Or it can be a pointless deathmatch. The typical server for the demo is full of people that don’t understand the objectives or the gametype. Demo servers are also not well policed either – getting banned from a demo server means you have to reinstall the demo…
Every sever I have played on has people spawn camping. Even the bots spawn camp I think… The game does not need to be played like this – and is significantly less fun if it is. Just two guys working together can dominate a pub with decent players. IMI-50 and I tore up a few demo servers by working together accomplishing objectives. The game play is incredibly similar to Wolf:ET. It is objective based – where you typically need to build, hack, blow up, or escort something - often a combo of all of those in the same game. Alternatively you defend against the other team trying to accomplish those objectives. Accomplishing those objectives requires communication, teamwork and skill. If TG runs the server well, I don’t think the game will become a dumb fragfest. If people are ignoring the objectives, showing a lack of teamwork, or spawn camping, we kick them. Once the culture on the server is established it will require less effort to maintain. I played on a well run Wolf:ET server for a long time before coming to TG. It is quite possible to get everyone focused on the objectives, but it requires some active admining and the pressure of the community. I know we have not heard much about whether TG will host a server for this or not. I sincerely hope we do.
