Re: For Battlefield players interested in ETQW
a little preview from the FAQ that is being written
5: Is there a good newbie guide to ET:QW ?- If you are a new player and you don't know whats going on, in this fast paced & tactically intricate game, then you are not alone ! Once you learn how things work, you can explore the many ways to contribute to your team winning the map objectives
- Luckily there is an excellent guide over at ET:QW 4Newbies
- We also highly recommend a 30 mins video that is thorough in covering all the fundamentals (high res,low res)

Re: For Battlefield players interested in ETQW
I like the steep learning curve. It reminds me of Tribes 2. You need to read up on the deployables, and there's a few common things I found less than obvious.
Like vehicle mount/dismount is "G", and almost everything else uses "F" as your "use" key, including switching vehicle seats. Sprinting is "Shift", and can also be done in vehicles. Vehicles can also "crouch" with "C", putting them in a parked but more accurate mode. For the Icarus, sprint makes you go up (similar to the Tribes jet pack).
The Bumblebee is very underutilized. On a couple of occasions I've jumped in as pilot, found I had a passenger, and parked over the battlefield side-on to the enemy, and my passenger was able to lay waste to them, earning me a lot of points. I don't think most pubber pilots have the patience to hold position without having something to shoot at themselves.Dude, seriously, WHAT handkerchief?

Re: For Battlefield players interested in ETQW
In the Desecrator and Cyclops, this sets it into siege mode, which lowers its profile, immobilizes it and doubles the firing rate.
I agree. I rarely see this or the Trojan or Armadillo used as a troop transport. A loaded up bee or armadillo increase the firepower by a lot, but I suppose it's easy to either have everyone die at once, or be picked off as soft, exposed targets. Additionally, people underestimate how deadly the Trojan and Bee are against infantry - they'll chew threw them, expecially the bee since its aerial vantage point makes spotting targets very easy. It's great for clearing objective areas of infantry, and can disable deployables and destroy light vehicles relatively quickly too.The Bumblebee is very underutilized. Re: For Battlefield players interested in ETQW
Yep GM, both the Rocket Battery and Plasma mortar are optimized for AV work, however, you have to remember the Rocket Battery's lower trajectory and factor that into placement and target acquisition. The rounds are also fooled by flares, but it's much harder to stay alive in a vehicle if you are targeted by these deployables, as they fire a barrage and your flares drop one at a time. You might be able to do it, but I'm not sure.
Also, it seems that reload times vary on the same FS sometimes. I've had GDF Artillery that reloads faster than the targeting tool, and then sometimes it reloads at the same rate. Same with the other deployables. Anybody know why?playing off the TG server feels like we're playing 2142 on easy mode~Fehmart

Re: For Battlefield players interested in ETQW
More things some people won't know:
On the GDF, each medic you have on your team up to 4 increases every player's maximum health by 5.
Strogg Infiltrators can hack GDF gates so they'll temporarily open for Strogg.
The plasma morter and rocket artillary can be dynamically targeted while firing. Not so useful for rockets because the barrage is over quickly, but it's very useful for the morter.LLJK-Domino in game
