If anyone wants to go try out Insurgency, its a free HL2 mod which is quite well done. All infantry, goes for more realism. So I was thinking TG members might like it?

Anyone?

Anyways, Hello, this is my first post here.

I was intrigued when Steam's update "News" box popped up, and I saw an advertisement for this game. I looked further, and was surprised a bit; it is a Zero Gravity FPS.

The game is set in the near future, in near-Earth space, and the moon has been destroyed. Players can use jetpacks to traverse around the game area, and matches are 32-player sized.

I'm unsure of whether there are more weapons, but the main/only primary weapon available is a rifle, semi-futuristic, with a 'generous' magazine, a high rate of fire, and a scope that can be used with a 10-round burst that is 'lethal at long range'. It can fire 'ICE' grenades from the underslung grenade launcher, and you can also use EMP grenades to disable equipment or MPRs to blast enemies out of their cover.

A pivotal point of the gameplay is zero gravity; with no gravity, jetpacks, and many open areas to traverse, it is important to be wary of any enemies that might approach from unexpected angles. Stealth seems to play a bit of a large role in this, making sure to get to your enemies flanks rather than trying to use brute force.

I wish I had some sort of impression of the game itself, but it seems very 'out there' in a good way. According to reviews the jetpack movement is fluent using FPS controls, and the game supposedly looks fantastic.

Preorder is currently available on Steam ($17.99), and there is a single 'gameplay' video out (there's a lot of showy angles, and just a bit of firstperson glory, but nonetheless it's pretty darn cool lookin') that shows off a bit of the stealthy gameplay aspect.

I might preorder the game, since it's cheap and looks like a bit of fun.

So Halloween is coming around again folks. So what does that mean for me? It means installing horror games such as Dead Space and F.E.A.R. As I opened up Steam two days ago I saw that the Co-op survival horror game Killing Floor by Tripwire was having a free weekend Oct 22-25.

So Halloween is coming around again folks. So what does that mean for me? It means installing horror games such as Dead Space and F.E.A.R. As I opened up Steam two days ago I saw that the Co-op survival horror game Killing Floor by Tripwire was having a free weekend Oct 22-25.

For those of you who haven't heard of Killing Floor here is a brief description.

Killing Floor is a survival horror Co-op FPS set in the wastes of London, England and its countryside after a horrible accident has released hordes of monstrous, blood thirsty creatures from a secret military cloning facility. You and up to 5 buddies are all that remain of the military and police forces sent in to contain the situation.

Your group will fight through waves of ever increasing hordes of monsters as you try to survive against a a multitude of creature types. Some will try to eat you, others try to cut you to ribbons with blades/chainsaws attached to their arms, and others will try to sneak up on you by blending into the surroundings and striking when you least expect it. The creatures are very good at finding ways to get behind you when you are not looking (in very legit ways I might add).

I've only played solo mode since I just got it installed and Killing Floor is obviously a Co-op game. It is also, in my opinion, a game that TG members would really enjoy. A lot of tactics and communication is required to survive in this game. Striking it out on your own will just make you a quick meal for the hordes of flesh craving mutants roaming the city streets and countryside. Players can weld doors shut to try and funnel the creatures into a position advantageous to the survivors, just be careful that you don't weld shut your last chance of escape. Unwelding a door takes time and it may be too late once you realize that your only escape route was blocked by your own hands.

It's the end of the world people! Can you survive?
